Quade Cooper will be seeking more than the $400,000-a-season deal given to Will Genia, drastically reducing his chances of remaining in Queensland.
The Wallabies five-eighth has greater marketing appeal than Genia but opinion is divided on who is the more valuable player. The Reds have struggled without Quade Cooper this season, while Genia has played every game.
But the unchanged $4.1 million salary cap means the Reds are unlikely to meet Cooper's price tag; no team can afford to spend a quarter of their entire cap on just two of their 30-man squad.
Genia was offered $550,000 a year to join Western Force, but he declined believing he would not have the same success in Perth.

Is he worth $400k ?? I'd say YES, espically if we were offering $600k for Genia..
Plus if we get Cooper @ $400, we get Pocock (in my eyes)
