The Southern Kings have reportedly accepted a R40m (£3.1m) pay-off from the South African Rugby Union (SARU) to delay their entry into the Super Rugby competition until 2016.
According to the Weekend Argus, officials at the Kings have confirmed that the Eastern Cape franchise will not join the Super Rugby competition next year as widely expected.
It is understood that they have been persuaded to wait a further three years by which stage a new broadcast rights deal will have been brokered that SARU hope will allow an expansion of the existing competition and remove the need for one of the existing South African sides to make way for the Kings.

Kings deny! They actually make us look competent.
The Southern Kings have rubbished reports that they have accepted R40m from the South African Rugby Union that delays their Super Rugby entry.
The Weekend Argus revealed on Sunday that the Southern Kings will have to wait until 2016 before joining the competition and that they took the deal due to the fact they had failed to sign a sufficient number of top players to compete next season.
However in response to the story, the Kings posted a denial on their official Twitter page.
"The story going around we've taken money to stay out of Super Rugby in 2013 is NOT TRUE! We will be playing Super Rugby in 2013," it read.

Apart from the fact that the kings look credible in their case.
RugbyWA's inexplicable silence makes it very difficult to defend them!

I wonder who they will be playing super Rugby against, they certainly haven't managed to play super well against anyone of note as yet.
I guess we should be thankful we only have provincial and sporting politics at play in Australian Rugby, a third layer of racial politics must make it near on impossible to function.
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
Maybe the force will make way for the kings lol
Greater Western Force?
