I was talking to the Nedlands groundsman on Saturday who told me they had an incredible 24players injured out of their senior squad........ Either he's full of s@$t or their depth is phenomenal..... yes it was only Rocky you might say but man....!!!! They are one professional outfit..... They will remain undefeated for the rest of the season....... And that's a fact
we'll wait and see
i think the groundsmans is just looking for a start in the 15!............
Geez he's not supposed to be giving out State secrets.
They have got pretty good depth, always have.
Yeh, about $60K worth of depth!
From the RWA website
"The hosts (Nedlands) were missing nine of their first grade players."
Yup sadly Rocky forfeighted 4ths.
ok ill bite.
60k worth of depth? please elaborate on this assessment.
Nedlands will be paying $60K minumum to support its 1st grade team with player payments, recruitment costs (airfares etc), cars, rent etc.
Their 19 year old fullback was offered $7,500 of inducements to go to Nedlands instead of Kalamunda after he returned from NZ after having played his juniors at Kalamunda. Or so his father told me.
Maybe I'm a bit conservative on the $60K and Zed's $100K is closer to the mark given the amount Nedlands also pays the Force guys to be loyal to them.
Oops, forgot, they are all Neddies homegrown lads who just want to put something back into the community, help with the juniors, sell hot dogs on game days etc!
Clubs like Rocky just can't match the recruitment budget and thats why they are at the other end of the table.
Hardly whining, merely stating the facts.
The moneys either there or its not.
Not everyone can afford to live in the western suburbs. Just because they don't it doesn't mean they are worth any less as people.
I don't begrudge Nedlands having lots of money and importing planeloads of players each year - just wish they man up and admit it instead of the higher than mighty rhetoric to the peasants.
