I don't know if anyone has noticed this but this upcoming season we have some what of an unusual situation coming up.
With the deptarture of David Pocock to the Brumbies and Nathan Sharpe to greener pastures. We no longer have a "poster boy" or figurehead for the 2013 season. i.e. who is going to be the face of the Force?
It could be argued that Matt Hodgson as team captain would be obvious choice. But this hasn't always been the case. Previously Matt Gitteau and James O'Connor have had the duties.
I would be interested to hear your thoughts and opinions on this.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa

Nathan Charles.
May the FORCE be with you!
Agree with the above, Cummins and Charles stand outs so far. However this year I see it being a bit more of a team affair, with Matthewson, Hodgson and others like Ebersohn, Cowan, McCalman also getting a shoe in based on the activity and audience at the time.
Simon Cron: “People talk about winning and losing all the time and they are critical, but there’s a process to get into and it’s the ability to stay present, do your job and execute skills under pressure.”
Think Sam Wykes is attractive, many my lady friends are crazy over him
Badger!
Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.
Definitely Honey Badger...He was the very first (Nathan hadn't got off the bus until a tad later...) to come over to me (in my Wallaby attire!) and acknowledge me, ask about the TWF..was very friendly...very good ambassador for EWF..as well as Nathan Charles ofcourse and Matty they all have a presence..IMveryHO....![]()
No-one will be surprised to hear me say NATHAN CHARLES!![]()
Godwyn - he's already doing the rounds.
No more "Face", ie brand. They are ALL the face of the Force, use the lot. Its a team game, which we lost track of with Gits then Judas and dare I say it the last couple of months of Pocock.
Hodgo, Honey Badger, Charles, Godwyn, Ebersohn, Alby. They all have stories and charisma.
The long sobs of autumn's violins wound my heart with a monotonous languor
It would actually be a pretty smart PR move to, for a season, not use a "face" but as bison suggests use "everyone". Match day vision from 2012, blurred vision of actual players, silhouettes, crowd shots, split second individual shots like a comic strip. Sell the excitement and the experience of being part of it. Individuals telling the camera to get on board is so 2012...
Perhaps run with a "Who's your Hero?" theme.
You can have that one for free PR Team...
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
I was going to say the same as Bison and Burgs
Why does it have to be the same person over and over
Rugby is a team game after all
yep, i think you guys have come up with a great idea.
forget the "poster boy" of the Force. let's make it about the team. we have been relying heavily on the skill and marketability of individuals for far too long, i think it is time to make it bigger than single players.
by doing this we will build a team culture and get the guys playing for each other.
