Scans confirm Wallabies captain Will Genia suffered ruptrued ACL, set to be out for up to six months
AAP September 09, 2012 10:18AM
Australia's captain's curse has struck once again, with stand-in skipper Will Genia expected to be sidelined for six months after scans confirmed the star scrum half had ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament.
Genia's injury follows that of regular captain James Horwill (hamstring) and the man who replaced him, David Pocock (knee), who were both already ruled out for the remainder of The Rugby Championship.
Genia's place in the squad for the Wallabies' clash with Argentina on the Gold Coast next week Western Force veteran No.9 Brett Sheehan.
In a further blow, lock forward Sitaleki Timani is also considered doubtful for the Argentina fixture after suffering a grade one hamstring injury in Saturday night's 26-19 victory over South Africa in Perth.

This season is turning into 2005 all over again.

3 captains on the long term list...
will sharpie FINALLY get the gig now?
Reckon Dingo will ask him to extend again until December? I do.

Had to laugh at the spray he gave Kafe, at least he had the presence to apologise.
Interesting with Phipps and White in the Squad they would go for Sheehan, or is one of them injured that I don't know about?
No great loss with Timani, I would suggest with the hard hitting Forward style of the Pumas it may be as good a time as any to see what the big uncapped Kane Douglas has to offer at this level. At 202cm and 122kg he makes Sharpie (200/115) look "small".
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
spray? was this last night?
Yeah, Kafe said along the lines of, "Not such a good night for you but a pretty good one for the team." Standing there with elbow crutches and half of Antartica on his knee, Genia thought he was refering to his onfield performance, not the misfortune of what has turned out to be a six month injury. Worth watching if you can find it.

my f**king recorder cut off the last 10 of the game.
Lucky escape for us not signing him I think
I am reliably informed that Brett Sheehan has been playing in Sydney at the request of the Wallabies in order to be close to the squad and as injury cover.
He was back in Perth this week with the Wallabies for the same reason and was certainly around some of the Wallaby sessions. Now with Genia possibly seriously injured it is highly likely he will come in to the Wallabies squad. How fantastic for Brett!!
Other alternatiives may be the NSW halfbacks. Nick White from the Brums is recovering from surgery.
PS
Thought the ARU blew it a bit in not selecting Cummins. Apart from his infectious enthusiasm his local knowledge gave him the edge and would have put another 2,000 bums on seats.
Also Timani was named Man of the Match. Thought Sharpie desreved it more, after all he played the whole game and was solid to the end while Timani was watching from the sidelines. Announcing Sharpie as man of the match would have brough the house down and given him a richly deserved accolade in front of his home crowd.
Also. Seeing on twitter that Sheehan has been called into the squad!

I thought it was unusual too, he was right on the front foot to a comment 99% of the population would understand easily. Genia's scored a bit of criticism recently, maybe he's a bit thin skinned, or was he a little bit tender (apart from the knee)?
