It is with great pleasure that the Joondalup Brothers Rugby Union Football Club proudly announce the appointment of Brett Gallagher as the Director of Rugby for the next 2 seasons.
Brett joins the club with a wealth of experience and knowledge; a level 3 accredited professional sports coach, Mr Gallagher will undertake the lead role in player and coach development at the “Brothers”. The appointment of Mr Gallagher further bolsters the clubs coaching resources, as they strive towards Premier Grade in 2014. Along with his vast experience in coaching at RugbyWA and the Australian Rugby Union he also brings a great deal of know how in event management having spent several year developing rugby in the indigenous community with Lloyd McDermott Rugby Foundation.
Brett is well known to us, having run numerous coach and player development clinics over the past few years. Brett is also a club member with his son playing in the juniors. We are very excited to have Brett on board to further developing the players and coaches alike along with steering the club into the future.
“I am really looking forward to the opportunity to be working with the Joondalup Brothers”, said Mr Gallagher. “They have a strong foundation as a club which we will use to build the next very exciting couple of years upon”, he said.
On behalf of the players, members and parents of the Joondalup Brother’s, the committee welcome Brett and look forward to building upon the success of the club further with the professionalism Brett brings.

Rumour has it the second pitch is all but confirmed at JB’s home ground at Arena and will be ready for season 2014, plus Venue West have confirmed the lighting upgrade is imminent and work to commence in the next month or so and will be ready for the start of next season. Add to this the excitement that is building within the playing ranks as well. A lot of contact from former juniors & senior players very interested in returning back to the club they call home. Add to this the signing of Broad Construction as a major sponsor for 3 years, the appointment of Brett Gallagher as Director of Rugby for the next 2 years it seems JB aren’t a club that is struggling as some would suggest…Back to you RumourMonger!!! What else have you got??
a wooden plank on his shoulder![]()
Awww, then that friggin Handy bloke will show up!
Great news Brothers- onwards and upwards!!
[Beer & crisps......the pre-season diet of choice
...some of their players that they "loaned" to other clubs
And they are? Loaned indeed
Had a lend of , more likely....
You focus on "ownership" a lot, I used the non perjorative "loan", because I can't understand how a player choosing to return to Joondalup could be seen as "poaching". If the player chooses to stay at the club and not return to Joondalup, then we could refer to that as a gift.
If you believe that these terms cannot be used, then players can go where they like, when they like - unless contracted (i.e. some form of consideration).
I hear that there is a good chance that Joondalup will have a competitive U20 team next with ex junior players either returning to the club or returning to the game
If they can re create, at least part of, the U16 team from 2009 they should not embarrass themseleves
Having a respected DoR can only help
Good luck to the Brothers
Good on Brett, starring with a blank canvass means he can really put his mark on the WA competition. Good luck.
