Interesting story on Rugby Heaven about Beale and O connors support for him.
However these lines brought back memories and why we are better off without him:
O'Connor is also off-contract at the end of this season and has publicly remained non-committal about his future.
When asked if Beale's future would influence his decision, he said: ''Definitely, Kurtley's one of my best mates. But in saying that, this is my career. This is what I do. I love to do it. I love this team, the Melbourne Rebels.
AND THEN:
so the decision is going to be based on what I think is the best fit for me and how I can go forward.

Simon Cron: “People talk about winning and losing all the time and they are critical, but there’s a process to get into and it’s the ability to stay present, do your job and execute skills under pressure.”
James O'Connor doesn't really have anywhere else to go.
The Reds and the Tahs probably can't afford him. The Force don't want him. The Brumbies are supposed to have a no dickheads policy. It's Melbourne or overseas.
A year or two ago that would have been a big concern but I think we are growing the depth to be able to cope with losing a player like him and/or Beale.

If the Force can hold the players we have at the moment for a few more years, there is no point in even thinking about trying to get JoC back! We just don't need him really, we want guys who play for the team and club, not in it for themselves.
I vote - GIVE US A RECTANGLE STADIUM!!!!!!
Why so bitter taz? He's saying the same things every other player says

He has never, IIRC, had ANY off-field issues. If you don't count posing for gay gangster photos and getting into a cake fight on tour. If the price was right I'd get him back on the first plane. He never had a bad game for us, from my memory.

I don't think it is about the off-field issues although there were some minor ones. It is about the team culture. I think O'Connor put a lot of other player's noses out of joint with his attitude.

Agree James. The thing I love most about the team this year is that there are no obvious stand-out superstars and the team spirit seems much healthier because of that.

If the article annoys you, just smile and remember that he is simply not our problem.
JOC what a muppet he can go to what ever franchise has deep pockets and brains the size of peas to put up with that over rated pretentious princess
We should get him back
Our backline is the worst in super rugby.
If he's on the market, get him. It's a no farking brainer.
We aren't going to win much with the gimps we have in 9-15 which is a shame for the blokes in 1-8 because they compete very well and often dominate. With a decent backline, we'd win some rugby
Controversy corner
Did you forget about the RWC team photo incident????
The Brand is running out of marketing options in Australia
Would love to see him try and screw the Rebels over with negotiations like he did here only to have everyone else knock him back and have to go crawling back and settle on their terms.
Yes I still hold a grudge.

They talked about that earlier in the season. I think O'Connor to the Brumbies will probably be best for everyone. Enough hard heads at the club to keep him in line and him going there is likely to result in freeing up the kind of players that are currently being wasted there like Robbie Coleman (although I reckon he will stay with his dad) and Zack Holmes. Those are the kinds of guys the Rebel and also the Force could really use.
