The Premier Colin Barnett has announced that three of the world's top stadium builders have been shortlisted to build Perth's new football stadium.
The three consortia are WESTADIUM (led by Brookfield Financial and John Laing), Confidem (led by Capella Capital) and WestAdium (led by Bouygues and Plenary Group).
Together they have been responsible for projects including the London Olympic Stadium, Adelaide Oval and Singapore Sports Hub.
Each will now work on detailed, fully-costed proposals to design, build, finance and maintain the stadium and submit those by November this year.
The final decision on who will win the contract is to be made in June next year.
Mr Barnett says 18 months of preliminary work for the stadium is expected in begin in June, with official construction to begin late in 2014.
The stadium is due to be open in time for the start of the 2018 football season.

Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.
So long as BGC aren't involved as they would take 70 years to get the job done going by their track record
get the mob that were going to construct the James Price point project:they have a bit of spare time by the look of it

a mate of mine who used to croup at the high rollers, said they'd get these japanese business blokes choosing to come to Perth over Melbourne because of the golf course... thats gotta hurt business, surely!
Burswood will probably do a partnership with another golf course and put on some transport for those types

Is this not just Barnet wanting to build more monuments to himself?
Labor is often criticized for wasting tax money left right and center. But as far as I can work out, the conservatives seem to be equally so. The difference being it's going to their rich mate developers.
The way the price of the new stadium seems to have ballooned has alarmed me (and possibly pleased a few conservative govt supporters).
cheers auss...
