Unfortunately even on vacations I have to bring my phone. I haven't taken a point and shoot camera anywhere in well over a year. It just seems like a pain in the rear to carry it along with a phone. I know many people who's phones have become their camera of choice.
I also use my phone to take drunken hilarity pics and videos. Mostly of othersMany times those events are at night or inside in low light situations. Most phones really suck under those conditions. I think it's great that the manufactures are finally making phones that take great pictures under a variety of conditions.
Although the reviews of the 1020 are very limited at this time. It obvious that there's not another phone in the same class with it's camera. I'd guess that there will be several within a year. There's a market for people who want great pictures from their phones.
totally understandable, but for me (and the missus) travel time is "thank god no phones, no email, and bugger all facebook!"
Im happy to slide a waterproof, destructo proof camera in the left pocket, room key in the right, wallet full of cash in the back pocket and be done with it!
ontopic re: low light, the ONE dominates in low light! even when Im drunk and fumbling around its pretty clear and doesnt blur too much![]()
Ditto!
I've got an Otterbox Defender and my Iphone still looks new, it's 2 years old. So I should be able to get a decent price for it when I sell it. It's a shame, as they are nice out of a case, but it's ridiculously fragile and not really fit for purpose. My wife dropped her Iphone 4 from about 30cm and the back shattered. I like the build quality of the HTC 1. There are about 3 or 4 new phones about to come out though, so I reckon in the next 6 months we will have quite a bit of choice. I think the next Iphone will spell the end of Apple as the market leader in smartphones. They just don't seem to be innovative any more and seem to play it safe with minor tweaks to existing models. Considering now you have smartphones with 41mp cameras, waterproof smartphones and smartphones with huge screens, I can't see the 5s as been anything other than underwhelming.

True. I'm probably more referring to the Australian market, where Iphones seem to dominate. I'm guessing countries like Korea would be 90% Samsung, whereas over here it seems most people have Iphones, something that I think will change. Although it will take 2 - 3 years.
Ahhh..OK. Same thing here in the US. Samsung has done a great job of releasing new phones in between Apple releases. So Apple dominates in Nov., during the holidays and into the first quarter. Than Samsung tends to get bragging rights in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. But I'm sure Apple still has the largest market share.
People are starting to see that there are choices that are better than than iPhone. If Apple's next iPhone 5S or 6 whatever they call it is like the difference from a 4S to a 5 than yes I think that they will loose a much bigger market share.
The best selling products are very seldom the best products. Hell the best selling beer in the US is Bud Light. It's far from the best beer but sells the most because of great marketing and advertising. I wonder if most people who have an iPhone drink Bud Light?![]()
No one in Australia drinks light beer
And if they do they should gtfo
Have ventured into the world of smart phones by purchasing a Samsung galaxy express
when I get smart enough to use it,I'll let you know how it goes![]()
