Got a Samsung Galaxy S something? Or an Android tablet? Worried about online security?
Internet security software developers, Sophos, has released the third version of its free mobile security and anti-virus application Sophos Mobile Security to the GooglePlay app store.
Sophos claims 80 per cent of GooglePlay's Android applications exhibit at least one risky behaviour and users not running the most recent version of Android, which is 90 per cent of the platform's users, are vulnerable to known exploits.
This has resulted in a more than 600 per cent increase in Android malicious software infections.
The new version of the free software includes application protection which guards the start of selected applications with a password. You can let others use your phone without risking your corporate data security. You can protect your settings or GooglePlay app and any other mobile application.
It includes web protection, previously only available in the paid for version, which blocks access to malicious or phishing websites.
Sophos said it has faster scanning, improving the scan speed by leveraging the power of multi-core phones.
"If Android malware risks weren't enough, Android device loss and theft are an enormous issue, especially considering that more than 100 mobile phones are lost or stolen every minute just in the US alone," said Sophos's senior product manager, mobile, Thomas Lippert.
"Mobile malware leads to data loss and unexpected cost issues, while actual device loss and theft leads to potentially much worse. Either way, it's imperative for users to ensure their devices are protected. And we're providing this protection - for free."

i use Avast! for my virus/malware security, seems to work pretty good without slowing the tablet down. And have Cerberus loaded and verified should it ever go missing.
Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.
I just use AVG for mobiles - I'm guessing it's working ok
