It's been confirmed - Brett Sheehan has been flown in from the USA by Cottesloe to play in their Premier Grand Final team!
We'll all get the opportunity of watching the Wallaby veteran play for his local club, with whom he has had an ongoing connection all through this season, even though due to commitments and injuries he hasn't actually played or registered with them yet.
Taking into account all these factors, and to ensure that club rugby supporters in WA get to see Sheehan's dazzling skills and crunching tackles no matter what, RugbyWA have given him dispensation to play despite the rule requirements as to qualification.
This has been warmly greeted by all Nedlands players who relish with gusto the opportunity to even walk on the same field as the Great Man, and most Nedlands supporters, who would rather (quite rightly) see him play than win the Grand Final themselves.
Those of us who's teams did not make the Grand Final salute their selflessness and desire to put the good of rugby and the needs and wants of the wider rugby community before their own.
Hansie, we salute you and your club once more.

this is my point a week ago, we all like a good game, it will end up not a local game, if teams can bring in anyone they can , I have 7 young guys in mind at Palmyra that should be coached well and guided through the ranks, sure we all try for new players, but keep in mind, we need our locals to be in the teams, this game starts with young blokes & willing parents etc, once again its alister from Palmyra, cheers to all
Would have been cheaper to bring Brownie in from Japan?
This really is becoming the finals farce it promised to be some weeks ago.
They should make the second grade the true club grand final and the first grade the Open Slather Cup sponsored by American Tobacco & Langtrees
Sorry all I gotta agree with Fulvio on this one.
I can appreciate RugbyWA desire to assimilate The Force Playing squad with their local teams and, as I understand it, from 2014 Force players will not be permitted to go back to the East Coast to play in Shute Shield games when they are not playing for the Force. They must play with in the WA Metro Comp.
But there must be a clear link to the local teams. You cant just play a guy who has not registered with the club. There are legal requirements. What if Brett Sheehan gets injured. What Insurance policy is he covered under? It cant be Cott policy - he isnt regisitered. It cant be the Force - he isnt playing for them.
What about the player that Brett Sheehan is replacing? Is he injured? Or has he just been dropped for no apparent reason? So does this replaced player move down to the second grade team or lower - and Cott gain another advantage - with a player of Premier Grade skill level playing head and shoulders against the men he is on the field with.
Its not right - and who ever has signed off on these dispensation decisions for this final series obviously did not consider the ramifications and should hang their head in shame - its a disgrace.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
This is the cherry on top of one of the most outrageous excuses for a finals series have seen since Browngate. Sheehan is an ex Force player (and don't give me crap about his contract actually running until Dec).
Who was the person who made this decision?
Was the fact that Cowan and Wykes were dispensated that meant that forced RWA's hand?
Either way, how can the administrators look people in the eye from now on?
Forget Fathers day, I will be driving up the coast to Uni and be bringing my best sledging voice with me, along with many more I suspect. Could be a fun day after all.
Sheehan isn't playing for Nedlands--he's playing for Cott!
It's not going to matter Neddies to win by plenty
Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.
I hope so,but after the past two years GF's...I'm not so sure
