WENDELL Sailor is in final negotiations to compete in the next series of Channel 7's Dancing With The Stars.
The disgraced rugby player, who is serving a two-year suspension from the game after testing positive to cocaine, said he hoped to have a contract signed by next week.
He said he believed he had the form to go all the way in the top rating series - his family's favourite show.
"I've had years of practice on the dance-floor at clubs all around the world," he said yesterday.
"Now it's time to make the most of it.
"I'm real keen, my kids are keen. They said I should do it, and I haven't got that much on at the moment, so why not?"
Sailor, who last week withdrew an appeal against his suspension, said he had no shortage of work offers despite being dropped from a beach football promotion.
He has just returned from New Zealand where he took part in the Kiwi version of Survivor produced by former league and union international Matthew Ridge.
Sailor said he was committed to working as an anti-drug ambassador with the Australian Sports Anti Drug Agency.
"I've never denied that I did the wrong thing,"he said. "I've never made any excuses. I've just got to take my punishment and try to put it behind me."
Sailor is one of two big names being chased by Dancing With The Stars producers.
There is talk that former Labor leader Mark Latham is also in their sights.
