Western Force coach Michael Foley has been forced to dig deep into his resources as the club's injury crisis grows ahead of tomorrow's Super Rugby clash with the Crusaders in Christchurch.
Wallabies No.8 Ben McCalman has a groin injury and Foley has called up fringe flanker Ryan Hodson from his wider training group as cover.
Hodson, 24, who has been playing for Cottesloe, is an Australian under-20 representative who made two appearances as an injury replacement for the Melbourne Rebels in 2012.
A former Hale School pupil and UWA student, Hodson spent two months with English Championship club Jersey earlier this year and is set to return for the 2014-15 season.
He has also played for Manly and Eastern Suburbs in Sydney's Shute Shield.

Nothing like getting thrown in the deep end!
Crikey! Agree Val!! Good luck Ryan
I remember being gutted to see him head to the Rabble. Standout in Community Rugby a few years back, out and out a gentleman and quality guy. He'll be another Sandgroper that will do us proud.
There was me thinking some media outlet had misspelled Hodgo's name.
Best of luck, do the jersey proud!
and great to see we haven't got another decrepit journeyman from the Shite Shield. He's young, been playing in Europe (which is a tough ask for forwards) and a true sandgroper.
Whether he sucks or shines I would say it's a good call!
C'mon the![]()

"Remember lads, rugby is a team game; all 14 of you make sure you pass the ball to ..........."
So BigMac was "groin" not his head gash! Don't know what would be worse! Good onya Ryan! I'm sure you'll do the jersey proud!
Good onya Hoddo
Just remember all that stuff I taught you when we played touch footie together - you'll be fine![]()
Geez He looks bloody good! Tall and quick and seems pretty strong too. Could be great subby.
and hopefully he's thinking "Richie who?"
Go well young man!
How much have the WA boys stepped up this year! Not one of them has let us down. They deserve to be in the squad.
Great game, Fucken battled right through to the 80!
Great to see. But I would hope they wouldn't be there otherwise.
