WESTERN FORCE MEDIA RELEASE
Thursday, 18 September 2014
The Western Force will host eight high-quality fixtures during the 2015 Asteron Life Super Rugby season, as the club looks to build on its most successful season in Asteron Life Super Rugby this year.
In the draw released by SANZAR today, the Western Australian club will feature home matches against New Zealand’s Hurricanes and Highlanders; South Africa’s Stormers and Cheetahs; and Australian derbies against the NSW Waratahs, Queensland Reds, ACT Brumbies and Melbourne Rebels.
RugbyWA CEO, Mark Sinderberry, said he was looking forward to the club’s supporters having an opportunity to getting behind the Western Force again in 2015.
“The team – supported by our Sea of Blue – worked incredibly hard to win a club record six matches at the ‘Force Field’ – and nine overall – this year in what was a very strong season for the Western Force,” he said.
“We’re excited about eight quality home fixtures next season that will again give the team an opportunity to play in front of our members and supporters. This season we have a balance of Friday and Saturday night matches which allows us to better accommodate our supporters, including our club rugby community.
”Our team did extremely well this season – both home and away – and we’re excited about them having an opportunity to build on that next season.”
The Western Force kicks off its 2015 season against the NSW Waratahs in Sydney (Sunday, 15 February) and the Queensland Reds in Brisbane (Saturday, 21 February) before returning to Perth to open the ‘Force Field’ (nib Stadium) for the first time against the Hurricanes on Friday, 27 February.
The Western Australians will then play the Brumbies in Canberra (Friday, 6 March) and Melbourne Rebels in Perth (Friday, 13 March) before travelling across the Indian Ocean to tackle the Bulls and Sharks.
Home matches against the Cheetahs (Saturday, 11 April) and Stormers (Saturday, 18 April) complete the four-match block of South African opposition before the Force heads to New Zealand on a two-match tour to tackle the Chiefs and Blues.
The Force will host four consecutive matches against 2014 champions, the Waratahs (Saturday, 9 May); 2014 finalists, the Highlanders (Saturday, 23 May); the Reds (Saturday, 30 May) and Brumbies (Friday, 5 June); before completing the regular season against the Rebels in Melbourne on Friday, 12 June.
The Western Force will not play the Lions or the Crusaders during the 2015 Asteron Life Super Rugby regular season.

Double header for you guys.
As I just mentioned to Jargs - fly from syd to the gold Coast or the sunny coast, it's generally cheaper than flying into Brisbane
Plenty of tour options
The East Coast Tour - Rounds 1 & 2 - Waratahs & Reds
Canberra Tour - Round 4 - Brumbies (WA Public Holiday the Monday before, make a week of it)
South Africa Tour - Rounds 6 & 7 - Bulls & Sharks (Easter will fall the following weekend so you could make three weeks of it as we have a bye)
ANZAC Tour - Rounds 11 & 12 - Chiefs & Blues (you could also get to CC for Saders v Blues on ANZAC Day to preview the following weeks opposition)
Melbourne Tour - Round 18 - Rebels (WA Public Holiday the Monday before so could make a week of it)

Bugger....Thanks SANZAR
Not a good way to build fan momentum for the new season.
Just like last year kick-off the season with two away games (this time against last year's Champs! and the Reds)
2 home games in the first 7 weeks.....
Miss out on both the Crusader & Chiefs big drawcards at Home.
At least we get a bye after the Sth Africa trip.
I hope we can defeat the Rebels in 2015 (twice)

If it wasn't on the 100th Anniversary, I would too!

Would love to go to the Kings Park game - don't think I can justify the cost in a RWC year though :-(
Talking rugby terms, this isn't a great draw, particularly the SA side of it, two teams which were pretty much basket cases this year at home, with the sharks and the bulls away, yuck....NZ is similar, but not quite as bad

It will all even itself out over five years and then there will be a new format, swings and roundabouts.

This is a Calendar file for importing into Outlook. The times are accurate for where you run it (ie for me in Perth, accurate Perth times)
