IIRC, Heywood got to pretty accurate before heading North, and despite our ire JO'C was (and continues to be) pretty good.
But you are right - kicking shouldn't be a hard thing to do to a reasonable standard; we're not asking for anyone to be Jonny Wilkinson and spend 5 hours a day practising nothing but kicks.
Not sure if the AFL coaches are the best people, though; they kick out of hand (which, admittedly we can be bloody dire at at times, too) while it's the poor place kicks which cost us points.

Right on Jono, practice makes perfect. How useful would Wilkinson be with our lack of ideas in the opposition's 22. If we were going nowhere & could come away with a drop goal we'd be in a far better position than we are.... scoreboard pressure.
