WESTERN FORCE MEDIA RELEASE
Monday, 15 June 2015
The Western Australian squad has been named to contest the National Schoolboys Championships at Sydney’s St Ignatius’ College starting on Monday, 29 June.
The squad features 10 members from the victorious WA Under 17 team that won last year’s Junior Gold Cup against Victoria, while eight players – Isaac Cavo, Nicholas Jooste, Lorenzo Mario, Taine Oakley, Leighton Short, Chad Ross, Sosifa Likio, Sy Waiti – are returning, having been members of the 2014 WA Schoolboys side.
Aranmore Catholic College is the best represented school with four players.
The National Schoolboys Championships provides a prime opportunity for the State’s best schoolboy talent to showcase their skills, with several Western Force players representing the Western Australian Schoolboys in past tournaments. Zack Holmes and Dane Haylett-Petty (both 2007); Kyle Godwin (2008 and 2009); Oliver Hoskins (2009 and 2010); Luke Burton, Brad Lacey, Ross Haylett-Petty, Kane Koteka, (all 2010 and 2011), have all progressed from the representative side to sign senior contracts with Force.
The National Schoolboys Championships will run from Monday, 29 June to Saturday, 4 July.
