FRESH claimed both the Men’s and Women’s divisions of the 2015 Alcohol.Think Again Beach Fives at Cottesloe Beach on Saturday.
The specialist Sevens club won the Beach Eagle (Men's) narrowly defeating Nedlands, 4-3, in the final, while their Women’s side proved too strong for ARKs, running out 11-4 victors to claim the Disco Ball trophy.
Cottesloe Beach provided the perfect location at the new site, allowing the tournament to run two fields concurrently on a backdrop of the stunning Western Australian coastline and in warm Perth temperatures.
Nicole Serafini, RugbyWA’s Manager, Competitions, Sevens and Women’s, says the event was another success and “This is the third year we have run this beach rugby event and the interest continues to grow,” she said.
“We were delighted with how the weekend’s tournament ran – there was plenty of hard, fast and exciting beach rugby to entertain the spectators at Cottesloe, while always played within the spirit of our game.
“I’d like to thank all the players and clubs that supported the event this year and plans are already underway to grow the tournament next year.”
Teams are now invited to nominate for the next event in the Alcohol.Think Again Summer Sevens Series – the Alcohol.Think Again Jetty Sevens in Busselton on Saturday, 30 January.
