To me Alby has been the perfect use of the marque player. He has given his all for the club in a position that when he came here we were weak. Both of the 9s that we have now are more than capable of outplaying their opposite number. With the prospect of Ruru coming into the squad, putting pressure on their selection, I think we can put a tick next to one position on field.
Thanks Alby for what you've done on the field for the Force and I wish you all the best for the rest of your career. Maybe we'll see you in the crowd when you retire
Have I missed something or can someone tell me why Kyle Godwin is in the gone after 2016 column
Wests Scarborough 1st Grade juggernaut has played finals rugby each and every year since its inception and continues this remarkable feat yet again this season and unbelievably it's still rolling on and as an added little circle jerk for the masses Wests actually hold the record for the current longest unbroken finals record.
Not gone yet, but who would blame him after he has seen his career stagnate. But will he also take his mate Cottrell with him.

Payto&Panda: Kyle Godwin set to join Brumbies amid mass exodus at Western Force
JUNE 23, 20169:01PM
IAIN PAYTEN and JAMIE PANDARAM
The Daily Telegraph
PERTH product Kyle Godwin is set to defect to the Brumbies in a sensational switch.
Canberra types have been excitedly talking about the looming signing of the 23-year-old, who would be an ideal replacement for England-bound Matt Toomua at inside centre.
And there are even whispers that Force flanker Chris Alcock could follow Godwin to the Brumbies as a back-up given David Pocock will sit out 2017.
On top of that, Wallaby-capped hooker Nathan Charles is now looking to move overseas.
Godwin’s departure would be a major blow to the Force, given he is a local product.
When asked if the move was imminent, Godwin’s manager David Shand said: “I do not comment on contract negotiations.”
But Brumbies insiders are convinced Godwin will be at the club next year.
It would continue the mass exodus from Western Force, with Alby Mathewson, Solomoni Rasolea, Guy Millar, Steve Mafi, Oliver Hoskins, Tom Sexton, Brad Lacey, Rory Walton, Albert Nikoro and Chris Heiberg all leaving at the end of the season.
These are worrying times for the Australian franchise.
Has there been any more mention of a plan from Sinderberry because developments like this ^^^^^ are very concerning.
Is Lacey confirmed?
That would be a real shame.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
This doesn't bode well.....

Hang on, we've all been hammering the point for years that our playing list isn't up to super rugby standard, but the instant a player clean out rocks up we bleat about the sky falling?
Sure losing Kyle would suck, and having Lacey move on without being tested wouldn't be good, but the majority of that list are blokes that probably should think about playing their rugby elsewhere.

I was referring mainly to the loss of Godwin, Lacey, Alcock and Charles. And do we know yet whether Hodgo has been offered a new contract?

Well said Gigs of that list only Godwin and Lacey were worth keeping. Koteka and Hardwick are young and I rather have them play than Alcock. Mafi was not the same this year is getting old. Charles has been a great servant but is past his best. Matthewson has been a great player for the force but we do have the backup behind with Prior, Louwrens and hopefully Ruru.
Now let's hope that the replacements will be better and we might be up with a great start with the potential signing of Curtis Rona (Perth boy) from the NRL.
yeah, disappointed at lacey, alcock and godwin, but i think Charles should get his pension, before he cannot.
Alcock is interesting, has he been told or seen that he is not the #2 flanker? perhaps hardwick or koteka have been getting the nod?
