END OF SEASON INJURY UPDATE
By Fraser Smith on Wed 20th July 16
The Western Force’s 2016 Asteron Life Super Rugby season came to an end last week but the work doesn’t stop for the club’s injured players who will be doing everything they can in rehabilitation to get their bodies right.
Skipper Matt Hodgson underwent successful shoulder surgery after going down against the Blues in Round 14 and is progressing strongly with his rehab.
Newly capped Wallaby Adam Coleman is on the mend from a neck injury while No.8 Ben McCalman is currently in Sydney working his way back from an injured scapula alongside fellow injured Wallaby Drew Mitchell. Both Coleman and McCalman are expected to be fit and up for selection for the Wallabies’ Rugby Championship campaign.
Heath Tessmann is fully recovered from a skin graft while fellow hooker Nathan Charles has almost finished his rehabilitation after dislocating his shoulder against the Crusaders in Round Seven.
Unfortunately Angus Cottrell suffered a minor ACL injury and strained ligaments in his ankle against the Stormers in the penultimate round of the season and will miss the Perth Spirit’s 2016 campaign.
Francois van Wyk will also be unavailable for the Perth Spirit after injuring his MCL in the warm up against the Brumbies.
While Luke Burton (foot), Tetera Faulkner (achilles tendon) and Richie Arnold (shoulder) will all face extended time on the sidelines after undergoing surgeries.

That paints an interesting picture for the NRC. A lot of our pack are out. We may need to pick and stick with a team this year, particularly in the forwards.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
I like van Wyk, but is he really unlucky or just injury-prone?
Maybe Tet should see the same guy who fixed Nic Natanui's Achilles! He was running around in 2 weeks!
