Was it just me or did the quality of the pitch at Subi Oval seem like a poorer cousin to that of other matches over the weekend? For example - Eden Park looked in awesome condition with consistent lush grass and vibrant line markings. While the crowd looked amazing at Subi and was a great example to the rest of the world what Perth is capable of I believe that the overall ‘image’ was let down by how the surface looked on TV. Thoughts anyone?
i actually thought the ground looked pretty fresh and nice ... but having said that I wouldnt have a clue about that kinda stuff![]()
"Believe in the best, think your best, study your best, have a goal for your best, never be satisfied with less than your best, try your best, and in the long run things will turn out for the best."
Grass at Subi is a bit far away from the seats to really be able to pass comment!
Bring on a "Rugby" stadium!
Still getting back to working order after the Robbie Williams concerts.
Shall get better later on in the year.
But wasn't to bad - You aren't going to get the longer grass of Eden Park etc, because it is an Aussie Rules ground.
Thought it was shocking - all the other teams had nice looking grounds - the WF is still the poor cousin of AFL to the powers that be at Subacio - I was embarassed for the lads
61 years between Grand SlamsWas the wait worth it - Ya betta baby
Would you expect the Irish Rugby Union to be treated as well as Gaelic Football when they move to Croke Park?
Exactly the same as Rugby at the WA Football Commission owned ground.
Thus why we need a 60,000 seat stadium controlled by a trust.
I agree - the pitch looked ordinary on the TV compared to the rest of the games on the weekend. I also thought that the marked lines didn't stand out enough on TV. I remember the comments from the crusaders game last year that the try line should be easier to see in replays so that the TMO game make better decisions.
Nothing learnt there!
Looks OK live but on TV the lines just get lost, especially in the full sun.
Well it'd hard to compare Subi gorunds to New Zealands when you think of the climates, but I know that a couple of the NZ commentators complained about the condition of one of the Kiwi grounds because of the Robby Williams concert there the night before as well.
The boys are running out onto the fields and it is still summer I think the quality of the grounds in general will not be as upto scratch as normal.
I didn't notice the grass as much as I noticed the empty seats compared to last year.
Grass was too short for rugby. Probably really good for AFL, only they didn't seem to be playing AFL.
And I was on the railway side, high up, and the touch line nearest me was very hard to see. Haven't seen the TV version yet.
the robbie williams concerts were ages ago.... surely the groundsman has repaired them since Decmeber.
To some its a six-pack, to me it's a support group.
Well Nick next Force home game I am not expecting nearly as many fans; but the one after that there will be loads(hint hint home victory)
Every forwards dream is to become a back...
ground didnt look to bad on tv last night but i agree that the markings should have been bolder to be more visible
Absolutely agree about the markings... Looking very faded.
