Drew had a shocker, Hilgendorf was awesome in the first half and it really hurt us when he came off. Yak had a cracker and I hope its a sign of things to come. Sare might have cost himself a spot with his defence, bit harsh I know but I think Diggers could come on to the bench at his expense.
As has been noted by many before this game including myself, Sheps should have started at fullback. I think Mitchell will come good but I prefer him on the wing.
It will be interesting to see how the boys line up this weekend, are we having another book on whether Gits will start at 10?

That'd be very harsh if Sare was dropped and Diggers selected based on defence! Once Diggers has finished with "catch" in the dictionary, his very next assignment is "tackle".

we all know diggers cant catch he even admits it but i always thought his tackling was his saving grace even seems at times he is trying to use it to even out the other at times

In truth, he was part of Queensland's problems in the past - particularly his attitude - evidenced by his willingness not to tough it out with his mates at the Reds, but to chase $$$$$ instead. Queensland has been devasted in the last few years but is now and will continue to rebuild to the rugby powerhouse that it was, by building a strong hard pack. The force need to understand that too. Without a hard tough pack, it doesn't matter who is in your backline or how much they cost. In fact Super 14 success can be achieved with a great forward pack and an adequate backline. The force should have spent the money on tough relentless forwards, not overpaid, sissy boy backs. Get the basics right, and you may have some success.

quite right, but tell me which forwards were off contract & availlable

Isn't the whole idea of the Force in WA to develop more players for the Wallabies? That and win?

Every team out there has some issues with depth out there on the field and I dont think thats what lets down on Friday and hopefully wont this weekend. The team's cup now runith over with talent it's more of an issue of how it's used.

The three new boys are pretty useful recruits and Drew is like lightening - on the wing. Certainly better than the guys waiting on the bench.

    how differnt things might be with;

    9 Henjak
    10 Hilgendorf
    11 Mitchell
    12 Gits
    13 Staniforth
    14 Cross
    15 Shepherd

You both want to see Cross on the wing? I'd rather see Hare on the wing before Cross. Good centre, isn't a winger.

I think they just need to swap Sheps and Mitchell and they'll be finey fine.

    Can't argue with that....it is a concern.

Oh and BTW...the reds forwards were awesome, an absolute joy to watch.

I was certainly frustrated at the performance last week as well. Sure Drew had a shocker but as with "most" players they have an off match and I think you'll find that will be his "shocker" for the year and I look forward to much improvement on that performance in the coming weeks, I'm sure John will "keep the faith" and start him again regardless of what did or didn't happen last week.

So to answer the quetsion.....no he is not the next Henjak.

Well Id rather see Hilgendorf on the field at 10 which makes Gits a centre unless youre playing him at scrum half and yep I think Staniforth played a really penertrating game at centre, he doesnt get enough ball at wing. Cross at Wing yep you better believe it I think he will be a really good player for the force given time ease him into it out on the wing he got a lot of agression and showed a willingness to take the ball up.

I can see a backline with that talent make some real damage on opposition try lines and really cut up the defence. I think Cross has bigger potential yes.
