Actually it's the WA Board game Association. It meets a few times a month on the 2nd and 4th Saturday. Once a year they have a festival meet they call DecemberCon. It usually involves 100+ happy folk, 3 large rooms, 12 short hours.. But it also includes a swapmeet/flea market..
The good lady and I got this lot for about $70 . But I thought I'd post this pic as the Rugby Card Game, featuring the Evil Wizard Mortlock and Agent Burke was free.. I looked at it and laughed, as it does not look like much of a game. The lady rolled her eyes and said "Really?? We have to take this"..
When I got home I looked it up on www.boardgamegeek.com. There were two reviews.. I did not bother reading either of them as one had the header "Is it even Rugby at all?" and the other was "Mania is probably the wrong word for it"... Given it has the ARU's endorsement, I think they could have done better.
More WABA stuff can be gleaned from www.wabainc.com (not a fetish tatoo studio)..

A fellow board gamer, what is your poison?
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
Oh Crikey.
That's a real how long is a piece of string question. I think it depends who I'm with. My lady is a keen gamer (met her at WABA actually), so if she's around it's meaty euro. Caylus, Peuto Rico, Power Grid etc.. Occasionally an old Avalon Hill wargame..
Though she has a tight Wednesday night group (that i'm not invited too) which have been playing Pandemic Legacy for the last month or so..
If I'm with casual gamers it's light euro or possibly a good party game. Alhambra, Ticket to Ride, Thurn and Taxis, Wits n Wagers, Dixit.
Though a few times a year, a tight little group of gamer monks and I get together and play something like Twilight Imperium, History of the world, Civilisation, Dominant Species.. We are also planing Republic of Rome or King Maker this year..
You should wander along to WABA at some point? Pretty casual bunch with very varied interests..
~Oh wait.. I just saw the Xmas Island thing~

Avalon Hill war games - now that brings back memories...
Can't come. They don't let me off the island.
Puerto Rico is ace, as are Dixit and Ticket to Ride. I love Bang and Codenames too. I never say no to a game of Settlers either.

love a good board/card game.
apart from them almost being banned in the house since a game of risk took up an entire long weekend & basically an entire getaway with some friends. We're a lot more choosy after that because there was a bit of friction when alliances had to break.
Kel & I are undefeated at Taboo for the last few years though.
Monopoly comes to blows in my family, full parental ban is yet to be lifted and I'm nearly 50, Pictionary came close as well
The timing of the board flip is indeterminate, cause usually blamed upon some asshole having Park lane with a hotel and expecting you to pay rent.
Chess "earthquake" move is the only published outbreak of a fight resulting directly from board touching.
