By David Berrie on Fri 9th June 17
The Road Safety Western Force have named their squad for the upcoming Beachcomber World Club Tens, as they return to defend their title. The two-day event kicks off on Saturday, 17 June in Mauritius.
The 16-strong squad boasts 11 Pindan Premier Grade players who have excelled so far this season and were handpicked by Head Coach Kevin Foote.
Force back rower Kane Koteka returns for the second year in a row and will once again captain the side that defeated the Brumbies in last year’s final.
Four Future Force Foundation players have been selected including local product Clay Uyen and rampaging front rower Mees Erasmus.
Eight out of the 10 Premier Grade clubs will be represented including Wests Scarborough duo Eru Smith-Wano and Jordan Luke.
Kieran Duffin and Perth Spirit speedster Manihera Eden will fly the flag for Palmyra, as well as Future Force’s Onehunga Havili.
Nedlands boast four squad members with former Road Safety Western Force centre Ammon Matuauto coming into squad along with teammates Tevin Ferris, Logan Ede and Te Rangi Fraser.
While John Monk (Cottesloe), Aisake Meo (Perth Bayswater), Brendan Owen (Future Force/Associates) and Sheldon Tarawa (Joondalup) will represent their clubs in Mauritius.
Road Safety Western Force 10s Head Coach Kevin Foote says he has been extremely impressed with the Premier Grade players and looks forward to defending the title.
“The club players have been fantastic,” he said. “They have shown such great commitment and I am very happy with where the team is at heading into the tournament.
“We’re excited to be coming in as past champions, but we know this is going to be a tough tournament and we’re playing some classy opponents.”
