hi there, newbie here. Just curious as to why the Force dont have a) cheerleaders, b) mascot and an on the field supporters club...we need to raise the excitement at the games!! if i see one more mexican wave I'm gone to throw my nachos!! and I wont even mention the song!! omg I thought at the first game it would have gone off (except to those who have read the looonnng words) we were all given the banner with Go the Force on one side and the words to the other but no mention of the tune!!! I'm sure we want to be chanting more than Come on you Forrrrce!! (as stolen from that other football code)
mmm there's my two cents anyhoo
oh dear... you've started the cheerleaders argument up again... Personally I don't think it's a good idea as it detracts from the actual rugby and makes it more of a shallow/poppy kind of experience if you have half naked girls prancing around in little more than their underwear. They don't seem to generate much noise from the crowd... just distract all the blokes.
And a mascot is a good idea... but what would it be? It's easy for the teams named after animals to have a mascot but i think we might struggle... force... hmm... something to do with the beach? the ocean? the mines? A sandbucket and spade perhaps?
We would probably just have to go for the standard big foam suit of a boofy looking rugby players in the force colours. I'd still prefer that over nothing though.
Other than that... welcome aboard. I'm sure you'll like it here.![]()
I made Happy sad...
The can of worms has been opened again, with crowd entertainment being the prime concern, i believe the rugby satisfies most people as a spectacle without the need for extra distractions, but i wouldn't complain if there was cheerleaders though...That said, i would never be allowed to attend ever again....So a mascot would be a good idea, someone to act the fool and gee the crowd up at stoppages, dressed as a big boofy bloke would be fine with me...Either way, i would be ok with it...
ps, welcome to the site bec , hope you have fun...
Proudly bought to you by a brewery somewhere....
why bother with dressing up as a big boofy bloke when we can just send The Lone Hydrangea?![]()
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
How about a Swan like on the jersey Jess
Although I don't think I would volunteer to be an mascots "friend" at 34 degrees!!!
Welcome aboard Bec, good to see another country traveller!
Hope you stick around and enjoy the site with us![]()

wouldn't that be ripping off the sydney swans swan?
Personally I think having a black swan in a force jersey... kind of... well... you know.![]()
I made Happy sad...
we dont need cheerleaders or thought i would like some
we all need to make more noise at the game im the one of the only people in my block who does. but there is a big group near me about 7 blocks to the right there the ones who start the speed claps. there heaps gd
screw a mascot lol
I like the way you think Jazza![]()

Well no, seeings the Black Swan is native, has stopped the introduced Mute (White) Swan from expanding it's territory and has been associated with WA as a name and emblem since the days of the Swan River Colony, I think we are entitled to use it as a mascot...if required
And if you don't think that a Black Swan is tough enough then perhaps you didn't spend enough time around Lake Monger as a bub! They can be ferocious bastards, especially to wide eyed little station kids
Might be a bit tough finding someone with a long enough neck to fit in it though![]()

Damn I'd love to see a Force Mascot V Tahs Mascot battle to the death. Surely the weakest battle since, well since the Reds Brumbies game on the weekend.Originally Posted by Burgs

Can't really see the whole cheerleader thing getting much support, although all of the SA teams seem to have them. They are unquestionably decorative, but watching the pre-game over the past couple of weeks they just appeared to be going through the motions with what seemed to be little or no response from the crowd. All a bit sad I thought.
Personally, I think it is a bit the same with mascots. Good for the kids perhaps, but it is all a bit court-jesterish. I'd rather be watching action on the field than muppets on the sidelines. If we were going to have one though, make it Yoda and give him a big stick to pummel the opposition with.
i think we just need some good chants! watching the English soccer(football)the crowds sound awesome when they start chanting, just gettin makin up a good one that is short and sweet but gets everyone off their seats and into it! Something alot better than FFFFOOOORRRRRRCCCCCEEEEEE!!!!! clap clap clap!!!
that S#$@% me!!!
Thanks for the great memories Cannon!!! We'll miss ya!!

For my 2 cents, as a red blooded fella, cheerleaders are a damn good idea, as a rugby fan - not the best! As I go to the rugby as a rugby fan, I don't think it adds that much to the game.
We don't have one, but yeah it'd be a flower... It'd be fun to see a swan v a flower...
I like perving on the sharks cheerleaders, it's fine when it's on the telly cos they show them during stops in play.. I don't think I'd like it so much live cos I'd want to watch the ruggers.
bring cheerleaders....mascots....the lot!
the more entertainment the better!
if you there to watch the rugby then thats all u have to do...dont look at the cheerleaders etc.
To some its a six-pack, to me it's a support group.
