I was all for Raelene Castle's appointment when it was announced. She wasn't the conventional choice of an ex-Sydney Uni player or another old school mate of someone on the board; she was going to be a breath of fresh air, bringing in ideas from another country, another code, and with a different, not so Sydney-centric view.
There were some who said she would be nothing but a puppet of the board; and even some who said that everything at the Bulldogs wasn't so rosy and the ARU should do more due diligence on their selection. I assumed this was jealousy.
Looks like I was wrong and the naysayers have been right about pretty much all the above. As a CEO Castle appears to be a rubber-stamp for Clyne and the board. I've not heard the ARU come up with a single idea which wasn't already being considered before Castle's appointment; there's no evidence of any ability to consider rugby which can't be seen from the top of the Sydney Tower; she's handled both Forrest and Folau poorly; and she's toe'd the party line about: "Stronger as four", "More money for grassroots" and "Oops, sorry, no money available".
Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
Modest ratings means it wasn't shite and it wasn't on the ABC. I thought it petty to say "plenty of free tickets were handed out" I thought that there were 18,500 tickets SOLD, which would mean only about 1000 free tickets. It doesn't compare with the fact that if you are Australian and you go to a Rebels game, you can get a free ticket off the back of a weeties packet and the unsold packets are counted as attending too.

FFS the "free" tickets were given to rugbyroo juniors as part of their package in an endeavour to encourage future participation, which has been explained on various forums ad nauseum....you know, spending money on GRASSROOTS
The long sobs of autumn's violins wound my heart with a monotonous languor

I suspect that article was born out of ignorance (or rather 'unawareness') rather than malice. The solution is to get the author along to a game and let him see what is happening.
Piss poor thing to say, there wasn't plenty of tickets handed out, in actuality there were bugger all. That was such a pathetic childish remark from Thomas, but it hits home that not only do we have the RA and SANZAAR naysayers to deal with, but our usual local AFL shills also.

Well can it get any worse. This is crisis time. Japan 63 points against Queensland. NSW lead by 29 and lose. And no one at the Brumbies/ Rebels game. Will someone, anyone, at Rugby HQ take responsibility for this shambles!!!!
Drew Mitchell is telling Alan to stop putting the boot in to the RA and provide solutions. Seriously the Clown College should get away with being unaccountable.

Has anybody told drew that Alan has offered solutions?
I might not agree with all of them,, but he has published a plan

Yeah the man himself.
Here's Hansie's take
@drew_mitchell and @AlanJones. First point ahead of Alan's 10 point plan the Chairman resign and ask the board to nominate a more inclusive, collaborative and transparent Chair, prepared to get into the trenches and engage with ALL of community. This Chair has lost our trust.

I think you lot are being too hard on poor Drew. He's an inspiration and proof that lack of ability and awareness should never limit your career moves.
