Attendances:
Rebels vs Waratahs, AAMI Melbourne: 9,208 (The Roar and stuff.co.nz)
Brumbies vs Hurricanes, Canberra Stadium: 6,821 (Fairfax)
That might actually be the first attendance figure I almost believe from Melbourne this year!
Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
So Reds obviously failed to make 10,000 then?

Yeah that certainly does look like their smallest crowd on record at suncorp. The fans have just stayed away despite it being a derby match. What a shambles this is keeping the Rebels in superrugby, atleast with us we had built rivalrys and taken the aussie grand slam on a few occasions. The reds made us their "other" rival, the Waratahs would always get very nervous when we played them in Sydney. It was only really the Brumbies that didn't have any real rivalry with us. But with Melbourne there is nothing, no care in the world from either teams or fans.
Personally, I have never liked the derby’s. I’ve always preferred the o/s teams and alway thought of that as a benchmark.
When you have four or five teams playing crap what’s the incentive to watch that? Bring in a good team and that seems to lift the standards. (sometime)
From the little I’ve heard even NZ derby’s don’t get mega crowds. It’s a massive shame but SR is dying and it was killed by it’s supposed guardians!
May the FORCE be with you!
