Had a mate go to the game with his adult son. They said that there was at least one other Force supporter at the game (3) and the crowd was no more than 200. Everyone was kept to one section which was in front of the camera's. At least it was free. All the MRRU supporter were complaining about having to go to Geelong.
moving the Melbourne games around to Vic country sounds good in theory, but when you only get 200 people, it does not make sense. Move it around Melbourne to the suburban rugby clubs maybe. Of the 197 (200-3) Melbourne supporters, you would imagine they were mostly family and friends of the players who drove down to Geelong.
Agree with both of these. Seeing DHP back would be great, and he's in good form, but the team don't appear to need him.
However, if DHP was standing on the hill with the punters, maybe even doing a pre/post-match session with kids on playing full-back, I think that would be awesome.
Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
I always find it frustrating that the Western Force play so badly against any Melbourne team.
In SR I think our record was 3 wins from 11 games.
However, I think it's hard to make a comparison as the two Melb teams are so different.
We played badly against the Rebs in Perth.
That team had 7 ex WF (8 if you count Nathan).
Had a mix of good SR players and some fringe Melb Club players.
It was disappointing after the Fiji Warriors game.
But we hadn't been together for long.
The Rising squad had 15 players with SR experience.
It had a lot of young players just giving it a crack.
I think the Rebels played very well.
They worked hard at the breakdown and were quite disruptive to our patterns.
We weren't getting quality ball out to our Backs.
Fantastic that the boys found ways to win.
I like Jordan Way as a referee.
He did a good job against the Fiji Warriors as well.
I think the current Western Force team has come a long way in <6 months and to be the leading Aussie team in the NRC says a lot.

No to mention how much it must have cost to hire Kardinya Park for this match, endless $$$ in Melbourne for rugby, shame it's not the same for supporters of rugby in Melbourne.

Doesn't suit his pro MRRU narrative.

Who knows indeed.
- Played at Geelong, so a substantial journey to get there from Melbourne, especially for those rugby enthusiasts who live to the east of the Melbourne CBD.
- At Kardinia Park, which is an elongated AFL ground (170m x 115m) with a capacity of 34,000 to 36,000, nearly double that of nib.
- Admission was free.
- Rising still wearing jerseys with LPIG logos.
- Final attendance of 200, 400, 600, ...., what does it matter. It's all sad, and not good for the game of rugby union.
Here I was thinking this would be the biggest rugby game in Victoria this year! I mean, 36000 capacity!
Japan and the Pacific Islands for Aussie Super 9's!
Let's have one of these in WA! Click this link: Saitama Super Arena - New Perth Stadium?
