Young Michael has been selected for the Emerging Ireland squad to tour South Africa
Turned down an opportunity to play for Australia A as he felt he had a better chance in Ireland, and now gets an opportunity to set himself on that path.
Good luck Michael.

He turned down Australia A because the Force offer was peanuts.
Whoever is doing the list management at the Force needs to give themselves an uppercut.
There's more money in European rugby. They play twice the number of games, so players get twice the experience and (possibly) twice the salary.
Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
Very pleased for Michael.
Hope he gets some good game time.

Saw Byron Ralston on the bench for Connaght (sic) against the Bulls. Bandi Aki copped an 8 week ban so he may get a lot more game time ….
Michael McDonald gets a start for Emerging Ireland tonight against the Airlink Pumas (South African provisional side not Argentina)

Anyone interested there is a 12 min highlights package of the Emerging Irish v Pumas up on YouTube. Can't be arsed getting the link as I got it on the Teev. Just search "Irish Rugby TV"

One of the twitter contributors has made comments on all the players that got game time for emerging Ireland.
Not sure of his credentials or bona fides but here are his comments on Michael McDonald:

Yesterday's match was live streamed on Youtube. But I didn't stumble across it until near the end of proceedings. E Ireland won again to the chagrin of the commentators - who made Kearns, & Co look the definition professional expert commentary.
