FORCE WIN AT HOME - AGAIN!
The Western Force put on an impressive display of rugby to demolish a miserable Reds team 38 points to 3 to take their second consecutive home win and a 4 try bonus point.
An early penalty goal and a rare penalty try against Hynes for a deliberate knockdown saw the Force take an early lead 10 - 0 and earned Hynes 10 minutes in the bin.
With Hynes on the bench, a couple scoring opportunities unfortunately go astray with Pocock being stripped of the ball on the line, and Cross spilling the pill a few minutes later.
Hynes comes back after his 10 in the bin and the Reds get straight on to the attack and soon put their only points for the night on the board with a Walker penalty (IRB obviously have a new edict on lineouts - 3 penalties for closing the gap??)
It wasn't long till the Force were back on the attack with O'Young starting and finishing a play to score, with Sheps easily adding the extras.
The touchie came in for a bit of a chinwag with referee Bowden about Hynes spear tackle on Drew Mitchell - second card for Hynes gets him a red and the bin for the night, see ya next year mate.
Sheps continued on his return to form with a penalty just before the break giving the Force an 18-3 lead at half time.
The bloodbath continued in the second half, with 2 more penalties - the second bring a few "boo's" from some AFL supporters in the crowd who thought 5 pointers were the way to go. (they obvioulsy don't remember the Force losing to the Reds in QLD last year from the same half time score)
24 - 3 with about 15 minutes to go and the crowd are feeling pretty happy. Eddie Jones obviously isn't as he takes his place on the bench next to Hynes - a sign of things to come?
Then the murmur starts in the crowd "bonus point" ... "bonus point" and the boys hear it too...
5 minutes to go and Sheps receives great ball from Mitchell to score out wide, and with a sure boot adds the extras. 31 - 3.
3 minutes later the bonus point try is on as Digby catches a cross field kick in the in goal area, only to get tackled in the air whilst the touchie was doing up his shoe laces. He gets his revenge minutes later when Sheps and Brown cleared the way for him to dot one down under the posts. Another Sheps conversion, 4 trys and a bonus point thank very much Force 38 -def- 3 Reds
It's good to be a Force supporter
Special mention to David "Bam-Bam" Pocock for man of the match, the kid was in their faces at the breakdown all night. All the loosies had a good night in my book - Love ya work! The Dorf reminded us why he was the starting 10 last year - and Chris O'Young put in a solid 80 minute game. And Sheps - you're a rock mate.

Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
A Game played to the end - what is it with our lads - do they think we would feel cheated if they could achieve the score with 5 mins to go - all this on the Siren stuff is not doing my blood pressure any goodOriginally Posted by Coach

My observation, the turning point was when Hynes was given his marching orders the 1st time which was nothing short of a joke, the 2nd time was fair, a yellow card, so the referee had to produce the red card.
Full credit to the force though, Thought Cooper played quite well.
yea when he went off the reds couldnt score against our backline with 1 short but it was fair. after you get a yellow card what do you expect if you go out spear talking people.
what a game i wish i was there but it was good to watch.
what do you rekon digby ionie to stay in the side now.
But the referee had a brain explosion. Not a penalty try, and certainly not a yellow card. But the force played outstanding and took advantage. So well done TWF guys.
where though thats the question when the two matts and spanner back
There in lays the rub...
... but it must feel a lot better getting the odd start with the Force than starting every match with the Reds

Ouch!Does the Force have a specialist "niggle coach" position Coach could fill?
I just feel sorry for Eddie. Those glib comments from the past must be stinging today

Bet the Reds fans weren't quite so generous about us last year when we had major injury problems as well !

I can only agree there, the referee really painted himself into a corner with that send-off. In this instance the penalty try should have been penalty enough.Originally Posted by O'Regan
Question for our referees. Is the ref bound to issue a yellow in that situation?
I've always thought it's a bloody ridiculous law as it stands now. There's merit in a penalty where someone deliberately slaps a ball down at the tackle or scrum, but in intercept situations in general play it should never be awarded as it's too open to misinterpretation.
I felt Ball Knocked Forward would covered it.
This Pains me a great deal but I have to agree with young O'Regan. The First Yellow card was ridiculous. So the Red card was unfortunately undeserved. Personally I felt that the Referee was in the game to much and took a lot a way from the contest.
Tho, in saying that. The Reds discipline was disgraceful.
Congrats to the Force, Great effort. The Loose Forwards effort was amazing, Bam Bam booked himself a ticket to France with that effort.
2 In a Row - its great to be a Force Fan

It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you!
