Quite a few changes here but I like the look of the result.
With an extra week to train together and no travel I'm sure they will be up and firing.
Giteau And Henjak Return, Hilgendorf At Flyhalf

The Emirates Western Force will meet the Sharks from Durban at Subiaco Oval on Friday night with backs Matt Giteau, Matt Henjak and forwards Tai McIsaac, Troy Takiari and Matt Hodgson back in the starting line-up.
Henjak’s return will see Chris O’Young move to the bench while Giteau rejoins the team at inside centre, with James Hilgendorf remaining at flyhalf.
Giteau’s recall to No. 12 means Junior Pelesasa will join the reserves.
Tight head prop Takiari is also back in the run-on side along with hooker Tai McIsaac and openside flanker Hodgson, with Brendan Cannon and David Pocock shifting to the bench.
Versatile back Haig Sare also returns to the 22.
Emirates Western Force head coach John Mitchell said the Investec Super 14 competition would only get harder so the Force needed to get better to stay in touch.
“We must have that hunger to improve because we have a tough road ahead, and if we are to continue to have some control over our own destiny, we must make progress,” he said.
“The bonus point win over the Reds was the result of good preparation and patience. But we need that again, and some, if we are to really test the Sharks.”
Mitchell said his players would have to remain focused if they were to succeed against the Sharks.
“The Sharks will look to carry the ball on the fringe of the rucks and mauls but they’ll also play with width,” he said.
“They have some young and exciting backs, and their forwards are the best in the competition, so our pack is looking forward to the challenge.”
Scott Staniforth and David Pusey remain sidelined with injury.
The squad is:
1. Gareth Hardy
2. Tai McIsaac
3. Troy Takiari
4. Rudi Vedelago
5. Nathan Sharpe (c)
6. Richard Brown
7. Matt Hodgson
8. Scott Fava
9. Matt Henjak
10. James Hilgendorf
11. Cameron Shepherd
12. Matt Giteau
13. Ryan Cross
14. Digby Ioane
15. Drew Mitchell
16. Brendan Cannon
17. Angus Scott
18. Luke Doherty
19. David Pocock
20. Chris O’Young
21. Junior Pelesasa

No Stanners or Pusey

Education is Important, but Rugby is Importanter!
I have really grown to like Palesasa, he is such a great hitman. I would love to see him in the starting line up more often. Anybody seeing that he's got them in his sights must be a bit nervous. Hopefully he'll get a run on Friday.
Just happy to be here
More surprised that Pocock is not in the starting line up - not brillant on these things as most you have guessed but didn't the Brumbies get over the sharks with their forwards

I would say they will use him as impact to steal ball as the Sharks get tired.
Yeah, it will also be part of the Backrow rotation that has been in place from the start of the season.
With Brown going to #6 in the abscence of Pusey and lack of Locks (ie Doherty Reserve Lock rather than #6) then the workload increases on the #7.
I would lean towards Pocock on current form but really there is very little difference between him and Hodgson over sixty minutes.
I would think Bam-Bam will be first pick against the Crusaders so a little extra rest won't do him any harm.

WIll the bye be a deterrent or a blessing!!
We'll know around 8.45pm on Friday night!
I'm guessing perfectly timed to let a couple of niggling injuries to mend and to refresh with one home match before heading to NZ/ACT, but as you say, we'll know for sure on Friday...

Ditto, but he's not gonna start unless there's an injury somewhere between Gits, Cross and Hilgendorf. I reckon the starting backine is probably close to John Mitchell's best of those available ATM. Mine, and I suspect plenty of others, would be slightly different cause Cam Sherherd would have 15 on his back.Originally Posted by The EnForcer
Yeah I agree shasta, the Round 1 backline with Stanners for Ioane and just swapping Shepherd and Mitchell (as will happen for the Wallabies) I believe to be pretty much our best so this is a pretty close second with Stanners unavailable.
Was thinking today that maybe the best way to decide our best backline is to just rank the players from best to worst, regardless of position, and then slide them in accordingly.
So, 1. Giteau, 2. Shepherd, 3. Staniforth etc

I would like to think that Sir John was more tactical -
i.e. Pelly is a bit mad and will do more imaginative things - Diggers is a bit mad/ imaginative too although really into taking out as men as poss - but that Hilgy is more defensive and calm - perhaps this is the combo that will take us over the line
