O'Young released to Glasgow
By Wayne Smith
April 11, 2007
WESTERN Force has released halfback Chris O'Young to allow him to join the Glasgow Warriors at the end of the Super 14.
O'Young, who started against the Crusaders last Saturday, has spent four seasons as understudy first to Chris Whitaker at New South Wales and then to Matt Henjak in Perth.
Force and Australia back Scott Staniforth has meanwhile delayed until next week the decision to remain with Force or take a big-money, three-year deal in Japan.
He was due to announce his decision yesterday.

Cya Chris... Hopefully Jon can lift.
Every forwards dream is to become a back...
Is it too late for the Force to be cheeky and make an offer to Josh Holmes? Being with his brother could be an insentive.

Very sad to see him go, I've always rated him betwean a starter and a bench player however, he probably would have been starting for the Tahs by now if he hadn't made the big move West and opened the door for Sheehan and then Valentine.
He is the standard all of the Australian S14 bench spots should be if we are going to be strong on the International scene again.
Hopefully the pro scene doesn't fly to pieces and leave him without a Club either!
I don't think I would have chosen a Scottish team in the current climate just quietly!
All the best to you though Chris, you can be proud of your place in Force history![]()

Give us your Academy and second string players and we give you back your starting lineup and future Wallabies-Hardy, Hodgeson, Davidson (Tah's) and now our gift to world Rugby, O'Young.
How many of Perth's Force appointees have made the grade?
Seriously though,It's sad to see him go,even though he never had the opportunity of wearing the Palmyra jumper.
It'll be sad to see him go, but playing overseas will be a pretty awesome experience. Does anyone know how long he's going for?
How long is he going to Glasgow for? As it is (very) unlikely that he would've been in the Wallabies squad, maybe the end of this season & start of next season with Glasgow would be good experience before coming back to thein time for 2008 season......that's my reading of the situation.
CHEERLEADERS ROCK!!!
I take it this is not official yet!Originally Posted by Burgs

Neither should Spanner.
Brother Gallagher I hear you
what can you say good luck i suppose
shame that he is going. one of the best 9's going around in australia. After looking at todays game Jon has a hell of alot of work to do.
Force went downhill after Chris left.
What actually happened to him ???
does that mean he will come back to play super 14 due to the fact that their season is opposite to ours????
how long he going for???
