    Bathtub test...

    Bathtub test...

It doesn't hurt to take a hard look at yourself from time to time, and this should help get you started. During a visit to the mental health facility, a visitor asked the Director what the criteria was, which defined whether or not a patient should be admitted.

"Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, and then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."

"Oh, I understand," said the visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup."

"No." said the Director. The teaspoon, teacup and bucket are indicators which define the level of insanity. A normal person would pull the plug. Do you want a bed near the window?"

DID YOU PASS?!? OR DO YOU WANT THE BED NEXT TO MINE!!!

No, with respect, the premise to your hypothesis regarding the diagnosis of varying degrees of intellectual or mental competency, is flawed.

You have to firstly rationalize the motive for the removal of the contents of the bathtub (and of course, also assess whether it contained anything ab initio and if so, the nature thereof).

For example,if the content consists of unpolluted potable or non saline water, a person wishing to reserve the water for use for domestic purposes or in garden irrigation, may well have to give consideration to the available means for decanting the receptacle.

this may indeed involve a process of selection, necessitating evaluation of the capacity of the implement utilized for the evacuation process, so as to minimise the temporal parameters required.

Futher, the dimensions and configuration of the bathtub involved may also require the utilization of evacuatory vessels of different shapes, volume capacity, and size, so as to maximise the amount of liquid capable of being removed.

A person with the above stated intention, to wit ,to use the contents of the bathtub, may well be considered non compus mentis if he or she simply pulled the plug without engaging all or some of the considerations and thought processes I have enunciated.

I trust this clarifies matters for you.

Salutations and greetings from Ward 10, Graylands.
