News just in is that Greg Growden, "Chief Rugby Correspondent", died overnight in a Sydney Hospital.
Initial reports that Mr Growden died after choking on a meat pie have proved to be false. He died of heart failure due to fatty myocardial degeneration, bought on as a direct result of eating sub-standard meat pies and sausage rolls served to him during a recent pie expo in Victoria.
An uneaten Steak and Mushroom pie was found on Mr. Growden's bedside table, but when questioned by investigators, it was totally unresponsive - apparently in a state of shock over the fact its own life had been miraculously spared from certain death by mastication.
More news as it comes to hand.
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
ohh..bad taste Coach
yeah, maybe. No worse than the tripe he serves up though...

now i know why i quit eating pies a few years back - i knew they were no good!!
Good one Coach.
I've been chasing Growden down about his constant, unattributed bagging of the Wallabies. Can see what I've been writing here:

Excellent work Greenandgoldrugby....we look forward to many more of your posts....

Who is this Greg Cowpen bloke you are always going on about?
Never heard of him!
Anyway did you read that article by Rick Boyd on the ARC?
Brother Gallagher I hear you
Great work G&GR. As you said that statement by Zavos would be very worrying if true. Hopefully it's not really the case and these two bigheads are just deluded wankers. I was just starting to think Zavos was OK too.Originally Posted by Spiro Zavos

Stuff Growden I say. He never has anything positive to say or supportive regarding the non Sydney Rugby Culture. Beale, Turner and Co must be paying him heaps because every time you dare to read anything from him, he whinges that they aren't getting a fair crack.
Rugby Heaven is run by conspirators, including Zavos (who only really wants to promote his 'roar' website) who do nothing more than push the barrow for the agendas that are from NSW HQ. A great example is the continual harrassment from the SMH people on Firepower. Nothing from the journos that threw mud at Pete O'Meara when they accused him of underhand dealings or the questioning of people's integrity.
Listen to the NSW whinge about lack of players or depth when the Spirit pumps everyone. My prepare response is tough - should have thought about the world cup selection of only taking 4 players from the second best Aussie team in S14 in 2007.
And to those of you who think I'm being hard, you are so lucky its still early in the morning otherwise I'd rant for a bit longer.
Go the Spirit - rob the Rebels, Ram the Rams, Flog the Fleet, Beat Ballymore, Annihilate the Aces, ream the Rays and destroy the Vikings (sorry couldn't be stuffed with coming up with a V word).
Well, there is always violate, but it is probably a bit much. Not technically a V word, but I'd go for eviscerate.
Stop pissing about and say what you really think, Ug.Originally Posted by uglea

I used to be a rugby heaven fanatic until I looked at other sites and found the bias. An exmaple was when Zavos forgot to mention a stat regarding the Emirates Western Force.
I emailed him and said 'buddy you stuffed up etc".
He replied and said I know, by the way have you seen my new website the roar, which is run by my son?
I said no and had a look. It was poor and only really offered specualtion on anything that had't been printed in other media sources.
I now use planet rugby and have felt so much better. They even offer a refuge for those that carry the whistle; having a feature page about laws, appointments and incidents that happened in the preceeding weeks. And no I'm not one of those that seek refuge!
I think you guys have all got it spot on.
Something that helps everything makes sense about Spiro is that he is a Kiwi born and bred.
I've been contributing (under my name Matt Rowley) over at the Roar to try and give the thing a bit of balance; i.e. things are getting better for the Wallabies and we have a good outside chance at the RWC. I've found myself increasingly at odds with Spiro, who I think a few of the readers there are in awe of a little because he's a journo.
PS - sorry could join the discussion yesterday - was at work here in Pommyland
If you really want to rile Spiro ask him what his batting average was for wellingtonOriginally Posted by greenandgoldrugby
