According to the media since he was recruited to WA, Sharpey is already, if not soon to be, the inaugural Captain of the Force.
I understand this not to be the case at this stage so who do you think should be the Captain?
Is the media right in Sharpey being the obvious leader or would you go for someone else as a long term option without Wallaby leadership comitments like the Brumbies have with Gregan?
Other possibles could be be Brendan Cannon (senior member), John Welborn (WA player and huge experience around the rugby world), Tim Davidson (Captain of Sydney Uni premiers), Lachlan MacKay (Australian Under 21s Captain in 03 and one of few 3 year contracted players), David Pusey (Australian Under 19s Captain 98, Captain Southern Districts 03) or Matt Windle (Captain Gold Coast Breakers).
For mine, if not already decided, I think it will go the obvious way to Sharpey with perhaps Davidson and MacKay as vice captains however it is great to think there is such a wealth of leadership potential amongst our squad.
For the future we can add Scott Daruda to that as an Australian Under 19 Captain.
Share your thoughts on the Western Force leadership group.
I'm with you Burgs - In reality Sharpie is the man, Canno when his off and Junior Pelesasa in the backs.
But out of left field and mainly because he is a stand out player - Scott Fava! 8)
Brother Gallagher I hear you
Yeh Sharp or perhaps Welborn too - however Sharpie is a definite starter.
Sharpe has gotta get the captaincy - it would be too demoralising for him and the rest of the squad too if he didn't after all the build up (and bearing in mind that half the squad are ex-reds too). Welborn is the obvious pick for VC me thinks - he's a West Aussie and one of the most experienced players on the paddock.
but I could be wrong ....![]()
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Have a look at the "Sound Bites" on the front page and see what Mr Sharpe himself has to say about the matter...
(Thanks No.8 for the sound bite!)
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Sharpey was offer captain as part of his contract....
Sharpe should get the captaincy, besides being part of his offer- best for the job.
Well the results so far would indicate the clear support for Sharpey to be "our" leader into the new age of Western Australian Rugby!
A little less defined is the TWF vote for VC as presumably the couple of votes for Canno as Captain would roll into the VC market and take away a couple of votes from the others nominated?
So I would suggest perhaps a co-vice captaincy between Canno and Lachie MacKay?
Keep the votes coming in people, only seven from over 100 TWF members with an opinion so far!
Cannon and Pelesasa the deputies for Sharpe.
They are all pretty much guaranteed to start and are experienced campaigners.
Sharpe by the sounds of it has it besides the fact he is the most logical choice.
Will we be having multiple vice captains or just be having one?
Well Sharpe got the nod as the inaugural captain with Scott Fava as the vice captain.
