Perth flock without its Shepherd
So you would've caught up with the news by now that Perth Spirit fullback Cameron Shepherd is France/Wales-bound to join the Wallabies in their World Cup campaign. He's taking the place of winger Mark Gerrard, who's been ruled out of the entire tournament, after injuring his knee only minutes after he came off the bench in Australia's first game against Japan. While Shepherd's call up is obviously great news for him, you've got to ask- what does this mean for Perth's chances in the ARC?
I think as Amanda says in her article she doesnt want to be pessermistic but I think she is...
Whils Cam has been our leading kicker...I am sure in his place Scott Daruda would have slotted them over anyway and possibly even better when Cam had a horror run there in Sydney....
As for "knocking over the try scoring monoliths of Western Sydney and Canberra in the semis" we have already shown in the games played that they could not break out lines easily as other teams.
I could be wrong but most of the tries that have been scored against the Spirit have been when we have had only 14 or 13 players on the field.
Still...love ya work Amanda..
have faith my fellow spirit fans
