rugby wa chief peter o'mera has sought an urgent meeting with sports minister john kobelke to discuss the stadium issue after rugbywa's independent financial modelling indicated the code would be $1,000,000 a year worse off playing at the new stadium, primarily because of increased rental charges....
as in todays west... not good!

Wouldn't the revenue increases cover the increase in rent? A new stadium brings better and more expensive corporate suites. Better and more places for people to come to eat and drink before and after the games. More sponsors and unfortunately probably an increase in ticket prices too.
Not if the landlord rips all concessions revenue off you tho![]()
That's totally FUBAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BLACK IS THICKER THAN BLOOD
Heard on the radio this morning that Kobelke is to have a meeting with Andrew Demitriou over the intransigence of the WAFC regarding the stadium. They stated that the WAFC's attitude to a new stadium has delayed the start by at least a year so far.
Hopefully, if the AFL backs the WAFC's stance, the government will cut them adrift. Leave them to do what they like at Subi and get on with their original commitment to upgrade MES for the rectangular codes (in a manner that allows further expansion in the future). It's not the best option over all. But it's the best hope of The Force regrowing it's membership base.
I'm one of the people that has not renewed. Only able to make 3 matches next season due to work. If we had a suitable stadium I'd arrange shift swaps so I could make them all. But I'm not gonna go through the arse-ache involved just to watch at Subiaco Oval when I can see it on Fox at home.
If you have arse ache i would be assuming a bigger problem shasta, hahaha
Seriously though, upgrading mes is now gotta be a priority imho...
Even if they have to knock it down and start again, probably get done quicker than the all purpose joke...

well, I'd think that a mill a year is a good start on the case for a commercial redevelopment of MES. If the other rectangular codes (who I assume would stand to lose similar amounts) could be convinced to stump up the cash, we'd have 3 mill a year in loan repayments. That and a big naming rights sponsor will surely be enough to convince a financier to commit to an upgrade plan.
