Hi all,
The overwhelming response the station has received to yesterday's decision by ACMA not to give us a license has been touching.
We've been asked what else you can do. Below is the email address of the Communications minister... please write a passionate, reasonable email explaining why you feel Sport FM needs to survive.
It may not change anything, but at least it tells those in authority the strength of feeling.
senator.conroy@aph.gov.au
We would be interested in hearing from an lawyers prepared to help us fight this decision, it would have to be a labor of love.
We do now intend to appeal - we also feel there may be a legal challenge.

I've spoken to Senator Conroy's office today - the email campaign has been noticed and been very favourably received.
I urge everyone to campaign for us by sending an email to the senator.
Is Sport FM actually still going?
Hasta la vista Pam
Bronski we are in our last 2 weeks - We will close on Jan 20th unless we can find a way of surviving.
Rugby WA are circulating details of the campaign to save Sport FM in Inside Ball next week - please could you act on it, and pass it on to anyone else who'd be interested in saving the station.
Hi Larry,
We've been advised that any duplicate letters would be counter-productive and only original letters explaining people's thoughts will have any effect.
We have learned that 4 years ago Capital Radio lost it's application for a license having shared one with Groove FM - they made representations to ACMA and 8 weeks later were on-air on a new frequency.
We know there is still capacity and it just needs the political will for it to happen to Sport FM.
You will see during the next week a step up in the campaign with greater media awareness.
Listening to the cricket coverage yesterday i was led to believe that there will be a petiton at todays 20/20 final at the WACA today
Hi Jargan, two listeners did set up a petition and had people at two entrances. We've yet to hear how many people signed up.
We've been advised by an experienced Senator that whilst emails are good at indicating public opinion the senator's staff don't always pass on all the details.
It seems in addition to emails a letter and phone call campaign are also required so we're asking as many people as possible to take up the other two options.
His two office details are as follows:-
Canberra office:
Parliament House
Canberra ACT 2600
Tel: (02) 6277 3295
Fax: (02) 6277 3317
Melbourne office:
4 Treasury Place
Melbourne VIC 3002
Tel: (03) 9650 1188
Fax: (03) 9650 3251
We also have the email addresses of two other local senator's we'd like you to send copies of the emails you have sent to Senator Conroy.
They are Senators Evans and Bishop, contact details below.
Sen Mark Bishop senator.bishop@aph.gov.au
Sen Christopher Evans can be contacted via this web page Parliament of Australiaenate
enators:
Please feel free to call these Senators and explain your views.
There must be a good reson that the authorities didnt allocate a licence.
What are they??
Maybe because all the sports are mostly covered anyway by 6PR, 6WF and many other community stations.
Force games are on 6PR, possibly 6WF, live on Fox or go to the game yourself.
Plenty of options there.
What about the local rugby comp or the water polo?
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Local cricket scores from the WACA district comp on saturday afternoons and the sunday one day comp, the "magazine" style cricket shows from the local Associations is good to hear whats happening at real grass roots level. National Rugby League coverage, Englich Premier League late on staurday nights, and not to mention live ball by ball coverage of First Class Cricket (Pura Cup). Local Rugby comp and League comp in winter, im sure the WAFL games get covered and i'm pretty sure the "Sunday League" (AFL) gets coverage as well. Alot of people are going to put out by this decision, hence why in my email to the communications minister i referred to Sport FM as a community resource not just a radio station
Tonight I've seen copies of letters of support sent to Senator Conroy from Shadow health Minister Kim Hames, and Trevor Nisbett on behalf of the West Coast Eagles who understand the importance of promoting all sports within the WA Community. We greatly appreciate their help.
These are just the latest letters of help - however I can confirm that politicians from both sides of the house are supporting our campaign. Sporting bodies across WA are all getting behind the station and we thank them all for their help.
Please continue to contact the Senator as there is little doubt the passion displayed has made a huge impression.
Best of luck in your battle David. I admire your fight and efforts.
