awesome. Thanks Marty. This should look phenomenal on the telly, a wall of #seaofblue. And its better looking inside and outside than I initially imagined

    no worries guys.
i am an architect by trade so this stuff is as fascinating to me in a general sense, as it is to me as a force fan.

Great work Marty. What do you think the rectangular construction is at the end of the stand in your last shot in the first batch (the green tarp light rig cover)? Could it be a new scoreboard?

ha! don't know if you are setting me up here, as there have been some pretty divided opinion on each.

Nib: i think it is a pretty conservative design, but not in a bad way. I like the design of the steelwork which has a pretty high level of finesse. It suits its purpose and as a stage 1 refurbishment of Perth Oval it is a good start. they bought a lot for the $90 odd million that was spent. i would like to see the masterplan for the full redevelopment, but i don't hold out too much hope and honestly think we were lucky (as rugby fans) to get this much.

Arena: i will be straight up here and say: i like it! (flame suit on). I think it is a good example of landmark public architecture (of which Perth is unfortunately lacking) that has been well realised, despite the public/media criticism. there are certainly things that could have been done better (i haven't seen the inside yet so can't comment on that) but on the whole i think it works, especially when considered as part of the whole King's Square redevelopment.

not too sure what you are talking about?
if you mean the galvanised steel rectangle that is almost directly above the green tarp (to the right slightly) then it is actually part of the light tower. i assume it's a service gantry or something like that.

I didn't see any sign of new scoreboards while walking around.

Yes, that's it. Looks pretty big for the light tower and being architecturally ignorant why would it need such a big service gantry or is it temporary?

Makes me laugh when they announced a final cost months ago and they are still paying contractors
