...and the meeting tomorrow at Mungo Central should be just as grim. I thought RA was both incompetent and dodgy with their money. Pretty sure the NRL executive is competent enough, so how will they explain spinning a $75 million profit last year but only $30 mill in the bank right now? And how will they explain that, in light of new Chairman Peter V'Landys discovering that $22 million which should have been paid into the players' retirement fund over the past couple of years, has not been. OTOH, executive bonuses for just doing their job have. This is a fund set up for the majority of players - the journeymen - who are on pretty much the average adult wage. FFS.

One of the food outlets I frequent has set up a ping pong table because of the no dine in rules in place.
It's been a week without sport and I stood there watching them play for far too long.

Well THIS is interesting! Extract from an SMH article last night:
“Adding further heat to Monday's AGM will be the news that RA has not lodged its 2019 financial results with the corporate regulator after failing to get sign-off from auditors KPMG.
The news reverberated around the game on Sunday, with McLean telling Super Rugby chairs the organisation needed more time to attest to its solvency, given the unfolding circumstances.”

And this
In any audited financial report there is a clause covering "events subsequent to reporting date". In RA's case, the 2018 clause read: "In the interval between the end of the financial year [Dec 31 2019] and the date of this report [April 2020), no item, transaction or event of a material and unusual event or nature has arisen ... to affect significantly the operations of the company, the results of those operations, or the state of affairs of the company in future financial years."
This was clearly a clause that might have prevented the completion of KPMG's audit of RA's finances last year.
A spokesman said unaudited financials would be presented at the AGM, but no report would be lodged with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
So the unaudited figures will tabled and we won't know

I'll bet they sought out this loophole as way of avoid complete disclosure and transparency.
Let's see what, of anything, the day brings.

It says "But there will be no clarity on the status and future of the 192 professional players across the country,"
192 is a big number!
4 x Super teams with say 33 each is total of 132
Plus Mens and Womans 7's squads . Say 12 each that is 24.
Total 156.
Where do the other 60 players fit in?
My understanding is that the Forces 33 or so players are not members of RUPA. As per Mrs Hodgo post on Facebook in 2018 or 2019 anyway.
This from Fox News:
“Rugby Australia has revealed a provisional loss of $9.4 million at its annual general meeting on Monday as the already troubled code attempts to navigate its way through the coronavirus crisis.
The global pandemic meant RA were unable to deliver a full set of audited financial accounts or an annual report for 2019.
But a press release said the provisional $9.4 million loss was due to a combination of increased grants to community rugby, player payments and marketing and corporate expenses which included the Israel Folau saga and settlement.”
DOES THIS MEAN THEY ARE NOT EVEN SHOWING US THE UNAUDITED STATEMENTS AND ANNUAL REPORT? IF SO, I SMELL AN EVEN BIGGER RAT THAN NORMAL.
