There was a story on one of those current affairs shows tonight relating to a greywater system which when switched on diverts grey water to your lawns, only problem is that WA govt red tape means that to install the $150 units you need a $200 PERMIT FROM COUNCIL, TRIPLICATE PLANS, APPROVAL REGARDING SEPTIC TANKS, AND NO REBATES...Wheras the eastern states have embraced water saving measures, WA is as usual dragging the beauracratic chain, and now even US companies are purchasing the technology...Freo council has also waved the permit fee as it believes the rules are a joke...
I know it isn't global warming, but it shows how Govts seem to wrap red tape around inventions and technology which could benefit the envioroment...This is just one example, i imagine it is the proverbial tip of the melting icebergs...

Yet another point of view on Al Gore's theory.

That was a pretty good read...With some interesting facts as well...
Still, it doesn't hurt to start taking care of mother earth, considering it is mothers day this weekend...

This guy has a big beef with Al Gore and is saying the climate change issue is BS. Good luck to him but as I have said before the climate change facts are pretty convincing and are generally being accepted by most world scientists and organisations.Originally Posted by Flamethrower
Does this guy expect Al Gore to do this for nothing and besides, all of the income from the movie and the book goes to the Alliance for Climate Protection. Al Gore is a director for Apple, and an advisor to Google and CEO of the Generation Investment Fund, which is mentioned in the artical and should be read about as they invest in sustainability. He is a succsesful businessman, ex vice president and a pretty cluey guy to boot........I would like to see this authors resume, in fact I wouldn't mind knowing a bit about him as he has a PO Box address, does not give his name and, best of all, has a beautiful get out statement on the accuracy of his claims at the bottom of his web pages....
I'm not sucking up to Al Gore but I hate articles like this.

Just a point of clarity Braveheart, the "get out" statement is across all of his pages and actually refers to his weekly service of weather prediction (so a pissed off picnicer doesn't sue him), not his comments on climate change
Even based in New Zealand, his predictions for Australian weather have been extremely accurate.

I stand corrected big man....but only on that point. Is this a commonly used site for weather predictions?

I know of a few who use it, does that count?
It comes recommended in the Ag industry anyway, that's all I know![]()

I thought i would bring this back to the front page, as i read an article in the Sat paper, possibly tv book, regarding a series of shows the ABC are not going to consider for showing as they dispute global warming, and as government policy now supports the concept (global warming is happening)it would be detrimental to the gov (the ABC board is now a liberal party puppet)...Anyone else read this, i will have more info regarding the article when i go home and get it...
ps...I am of the opinion that we are ruining the envioroment but like to know both sides of the argument to formulate a better opinion...

Oh, I thought they were saying they were going to show them????
Maybe what I saw was prior to a change of mind that you may have read??

Apparently they bought the documentary and then succumbed to pressure from some pro Global Warming parties. If anything I would have thought John Howard would have supported showing it as he is not really onboard with the whole issue.
I personally would have thought it better to show the programme as debate is always healthy and it is debate that has brought the subject to everyones attention.

Interesting piece from the end of last year. I think fairly well balanced.

If you want to use power from renewable sources, here is the link:
Natural Power.
It costs a little more than your existing power bill (maybe a cup of coffee per week?), but it is an alternative option to using coal, building nuclear power stations etc.
I have just signed up my company to it and have requested for government accreditation.
Thanks for the heads up on that Goldmember (I did notice the nuclear energy dig)....not sure if I have been blind or what but It's the first I have heard about it. It works out to be less than 5% additional cost to the electrity bill. For a business it's nothing especially if you can use the GreenPower logo after you are accredited. Great idea.![]()
