I am now intrigued by the apparent diversity in the make-up of the 4th grade blue teams.
I now choose to go and watch the game to see for myself.
I cant speak for Nedlands but from Cott's point of view there are a couple of veterans that did play first grade - 10 years ago or more. One more recently. Most are aged between 35 and up to 55. There IS a couple of young guys in there who are FIFO workers and play when they can. Some weeks we have 12 others 25. They don’t want to train, they have families and cant spend the time they used to spend at the club due to a number of life’s factors. I think its the same for Neddies, Soaks and Wests. This is the first year that Neddies and Wests have joined the comp and I know there are a number of ex first graders in there too. Look at the Soaks front row last week, Dirk Cleghorn and Adam New. Both quality players who don’t want to sit on the side lines and watch but get out there and have a run around without any pressures. I'm pretty sure Thomas is playing tomorrow for Neddies. Another very decorated player in the West. Uni does the same and have dominated the 4 Black (now Gold) competition for years. Don’t see anyone complaining about them and their competition is easier. To play 4 Gold at our club you have to train so the only option for these guys is 4 Blue. The 4 Blue game will rival 3rd grade and possibly even 2nd grade so it is definitely worth a look if you can get there. Some old boys out there just doing what they love...I hope this post makes more people intrigued and get down there for a look. COME ON COTT......
I apologise gigs.. you are right, that was unfair... I love the Rocky boys. Got a lot of good friends there...
Np mate, I know how it gets when the blood is up!!!

Soaks took out Premier Grade 23-17 over Nedlands in a back and forth battle the turning point coming when the Nedlands flyhalf put in a shocking cross field kick that the Soaks winger ran back untouched 65 metres to put Soaks up 20-10 with about 15 mins to go.
Cottrel was outstanding for Soaks.
Soaks beat UWA in Reserve Grade and completed the clean sweep of the major 3 divisions winning U/20s 32-0 over Kalamunda.

From a supporter of a team that has more splinters from playing with a wooden spoon... a bit rich to bag finalists... cracking game from what I hear and inspite of everything and through clenched teeth " well done Soa......" no cant do it but you get the jist
