Jono's an ex student not a teacher!
Yes there's an OT ban, but I can't think of a single occasion where a private school has followed the directions of the SSTU. That's half the problem, if all the teachers strike for three weeks, at least a third of schools still run! Wishing all the government teachers the best for their action though, they really need to win a decent pay increase to make up for the fact that we have received increases of less than CPI for the last 15 years. (I have never gotten an increase above 2.5 percent)
I'll be walking out the door, in fullregalia at 3:00 pm after doing AS LITTLE AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE all day!

Power to you GIGS20...
Proudly bought to you by a brewery somewhere....
My parents still made me go to school when the teachers striked a few years back. That big demonstration at subi oval. did you go GIGS20?
I think there was 30 people at school out of a good 2000 who's parents also wouldn't let them have the day off.
Being sent to school while the rest of my friends were at the beach REALLY ruffled my feathers!
I made Happy sad...
I am surprised you have any feathers left after that debacle jess...OMC, what where you thinking...
I get my feathers ruffled having to catch the train from Clarkson to the city, then a bus to the airport, just to head back to work on fly-out day...Sooooo depressing....Turns an hour car ride, then hour and half flight into nearly a five hour journey....
Proudly bought to you by a brewery somewhere....
I seem to have posted about feather ruffling incidences a lot since this thread started.
I didn't realise I was such an angry person.![]()
I made Happy sad...
You just have a lot of feathers jess....

Jess, no I have never attended any stop work meetings, or striked a day in my career.....It's not that I'm against unions, or that I'm satisfied with what I get paid, the union for private schools is different from the union for state schools, far less militant (if that's possible) the ISSOA has never even attempted to take part in any industrial action against any employer for any reason. I discovered after about eight years that I was better off with my union fees in my wallet!
I guess you could say Ineffective unions who don't work on behalf of their members ruffle my feathers!

Do you work for a private school?
I made Happy sad...
Union members who dont attend stop work meetings or who arnt prepared to strike ruffle my feathers when they complain about there unions ineffectivness and how there better off with there union fees in there wallet.
Union Fees are 100% tax deductible you mongoose!!!
Unions work on solidatrity, without it you cant call it a union.

I don't have a problem with Krusher's comments, but one point, I haven't attended any stop work meetings, or haven't striked (Struck? Stroke?), because they haven't been called, not because I was too up myself to go.
