My pet hate with WA Designer's of Stadiums.

Why do we need ruddy big Light Towers over all our stadiums... Over in Melbourne with Docklands - and Rabble Park, Brisbane with Suncorp and all rectangular stadiums in Europe have the lights on the roof of the stands, they look much better and easier to mantain..

Going to be touch and go for the first game to have the stadium up and running... But cant whinge too much its better than Scubiaco Oval and also better than the original Kiwi Scaffolding stadium once called NIB Stadium.

According to the Nib stadium site http://www.nibstadium.com.au/news/ni...-redevelopment the capacity will be 20,500.

Seeing as Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nib_stadium gives the maximum rugby crowd as 19,279 for the sold out Crusaders match in 2010, it's not much of an increase in capacity for $73 million.

It's Stage 2 of the redevelopment which is supposed to raise the capacity to 25,000, and I'm not sure there will be a Stage 2. We might get told by the government that any future redevlopment has to wait until the 'Multi-purpose' stadium gets built in Burswood.

Thanks Sheikh. Judging by Treasury's last set of mid-year review figures, there will be no Stage 2 in the near future, if at all :-(

true, but you don't have to look far for the value add.
the new seats will be generally higher & steeper, have better lines of sight, be permanent, have better corporate facilities, have a roof... etc... etc...

    do you think so?

judging by the recent progress, and the amount of work left to do, i think they will make it.

At the very least all the new seating will be finished, though the final touches may still be ongoing.

And a solid base for the seats. Should have 2 great benefits:
    1. Reflects noise back onto the pitch - the old scaffolding did nothing like this.
    2. Stops the wind whipping up my shorts, so watching teh Force should be warmer!

We will need to consistantly fiil the stadium and membership books to get any further development. To be fair the two AFL teams have had an overwhealming case for a long time and are still waiting. I think we have done well in our short history.

Now for some on-fied success to continue to build OUR case. Roll on.

I applied for a gold membership last november. Gave them my credit card number wanting a seat in new east stand. Rang at begining of Jan for update they said they were still allocating seats to existing members and will probably contact me mid Jan.

Heard nothing so rang them again today and they gave me same story, maybe another week or so. Must come a time soon when they draw a line in the sand and start selling seats to new members. The longer they wait to accept money from people wanting a seat they run the risk of people changing their mind. I've been waiting 3 months now to give them $460 and they are in no hurry to take it.

I wonder how many other new members are also waiting to hand over their hard-earned?

About 9000 hopefully. But I understand your frustration. AFAIK most of us on here have had our seats allocated since December. Not an ideal way to get new/rejoining members.

talking to a Unnamed Sauce - It looks like the final membership figure might hit 15 thousand.

Not a bad comeback considering the trials and tribulations of last season.
