just goes to show how slow governments can be lol
even if it is stopped this time odds are we will have another trial in a decade anyway. All the old people who are opposed to the idea just for the sake of it will drop off eventually

A no this time will be for at least 20 if not 30 years according to the defeatest yes campaigners. I hope they are wrong on their stance and right on their prediction.

Two (and a bit) questions:
1) If the "yes" vote gets up, will we still re-visit the DLS question in, say 10 or so years time, like we do each time it's a "no"? What about if the "no" vote gets up?
2) Does anyone know whether all of the capital cities have the same amount of sunlight, on "average"? If not, what is the variance?
Surely every five to ten years we would need a three year trial to compare?
Perhaps to pacify everyone we just change it every three years anyway...
Nuh, it's gunna get smoked this time, enjoy it while you can "Yessers"!

Ecky:
1) No idea.
2) Nope. Hobart has the most summer daylight hours of any Australian capital city being the southernmost capital (15.2 hours max, and yes, they have DLS), Darwin the least (around 13 hours). It's the earth "tilting" and all that![]()
Success is not final, failure is not fatal:
it is the courage to continue that counts.
- Winston Churchill
That the places with the most daylight hours have DLS (Hobart, Melbourne etc) and the places with the least don't (Darwin, Brisbane). And we've also seen posts here suggesting WA be broken into a southen zone with DLS and a northern zone without makes me start to suspect something.
The real reason behind DLS isn't to have more sunlight in the evening, otherwise logically the northern areas would be more suited. The reason for DLS is to have less daylight in the morning, makes it easier to sleep if your fortunate enough to.
good call
Various business groups and even the Chamber of Commerce endorse it "for the sake of it"

Prior to daylight saving I remember buisness having specific employees start early to match the East for "vital" interactions. They simply don't want to have to pay the outside of normal working hours pay rates that they would normally do.
If it was important economically we should have previously seen a summer economic downturn due to no DLS and now be able to show that our economy no longer has a seasonal decline compared to the East. Failing that it is no more than cost cutting.
