But didn't extended trading hours & Sunday trading both get knocked back in referendums? Perhaps we should do away with referendums as a means to getting an 'accurate' opinion on what the average Western Australian wants. I mean how many 18 - 25 year olds even bothered to vote on the DLS referendum? And how many of them would actually want it, quite a few I'd imagine. I know when I went to vote, it was like I was in a queue for the bingo hall, average age was about 105 and they certainly don't give two hoots about DLS. The referendum system is completely flawed, the hope is that everyone will vote, which they don't. Huge sections of the community are either oblivious or ignorant of referendums or completely disinterested. The result does not represent what the average Western Australian thinks and therefore referendums should be scrapped or reserved for trivial issues such as the name of the new stadium or something.

If there was money to be made from DST, the government would be all over it like a rash! Who cares about the will of the people when the economic prosperity of the State is involved?!

Good point Elf! On this occasion, the planets seem to be aligned!

Mind you, everyone I have spoken to voted "yes" to DST in the last referendum so I don't know where all the naysayers are!

    I voted yes to DLS...
I voted yes to becoming a republic...

Maybe we need to start a TWF political party... I'm sure if Coach wasn't keen to lead then Rex would step up?

I would take part but I can't use the 'yes I did smoke it...but I never inhaled' excuse. My credibility is shot, along with my short term memory...

I think a lot of people were in favour of that until they realised we'd lose out on a public holiday - The Queens Birthday. Which, incidentally, they don't have in the UK!
