Everyday Clyne sits on the ARU board makes me go wtf.

AFLX.

I watched about 20 minutes of that yesterday and it gave me Ebola.
The commentary was awful and pretty much ripped off other sports with terms such as "from downtown" and "He's been done for a travel there". Given the AFL ripped of Gaelic Football in Ireland and it's been ripping off sports for it's entire existence. James Brayshaw yelling "handballs it off for a ZOOPER" where you could hear in his voice that he was dying on the inside.
The commentators saying that the game was "great for grounds that aren't used throughout Summer". The A-League says hi! Funnily enough the Adelaide United home average is higher than the crowd announced at Hindmarsh stadium last night.
Unfortunately it also coincided with the same time that the AFL CEO Gillan McLaughlin was in the commentary box and he was dribbling about taking the whole tournament to Hong Kong next year.
The best bit is I found this on the Ticketek website for the AFLX being held in Sydney tomorrow:
You sure they're not talking about Rabble membership packages.
Talking about Ticketek, left it till we got back from hols to get tickets for the double header. Bit stupid I know, but seems like they are about 80% sold if the website is correct. Ended up near the racecourse corner post Level 2

A Rebels membership thread on a TWF website! Seriously WHAT THE FUCK!
While we’re all losing our minds, Eden Park as a Cricket ground.
It's been a Cricket ground for too long. They had the option of doing up the number two ground for Cricket or another oval like other cities have in NZ.
The Caketin is running out of time as it is not being filled for Soccer, Rugby and Cricket. Rugby crowds stopped turning up over 10 years ago when the Canes had the biggest crowds in Super Rugby along with the Stormers. Whether or not the City of Wellington has the coin to gut an 18 year old stadium and turn it in to a Rugby stadium which it should have been built as is another thing. Cricket already has the Basin Reserve.

definitely AFLX. I just don't get it. I'm not sure that AFL really translates to a smaller footprint (both ground and team size) the way that Rugby can. Changing the ground format also makes it more of a bastardized game.

If anyone has high blood pressure don't read Will Knight's article on the The Roar about the Force.

Gunny; when you head over for the 10's make sure you book a hotel that stocks this sensational new vegetarian breakfast food. I had it every morning - right after my bacon & eggs. Don't think it will ever take off over here though.
