Lets focus back on the topic.
It is an important step that the Force heirachy appear to be taking, it is important from all aspects, management, coaching, spectators fellow players that we start to get clarity on what is happening not only with Gits but the players that have come to the Force with the main intention of playing with him.
Gut feel is that he will not walk away from us at such a late stage and he will be here next year, after that i suspect that we will lose him, so it is imperative that we get clarity on core players like Mitchell and JOC.
Lets all hold hold thumbs that talks go well.
"...the `Giteau Affair'..."
FFS, next it will 'Giteaugate'...
No brainer it's best he stays at this stage, more important he declares his hand ASAP re 2010.
As great a player as he is, the Force would be a better team with a standard functional Flyhalf that doesn't have the expectations of the State on his shoulders to save the day.
I am no particular Daruda fan, though I respect him as a servicable option (and let's not forget an inaugural player) however, a Daruda (or JO'c) with the knowledge of a full season to own would be a better option than a one man trick-show backline.

So what does Gits want that we can't give him Slomo ?
61 years between Grand Slams Was the wait worth it - Ya betta baby
A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...

Dunno about Gits Robyn, but that sounds kinda tempting from here

BOKKE“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White
I highly doubt that Gits will leave before the end of next season but he definitely won't stay beyond that. It seems obvious that he always contemplated that his stint in Perth would be for three years only when he signed a contract that gave him an out clause after 3 years. Sure, he was open to staying longer but through a combination of factors I'd say he is ready to go back - his gf wants to move back after a sh*t experience with the Fever, his best mate no longer plays for the Force, he has lost a fair amount of money in 3rd party sponsorship thanks to the collapse of Firepower, the Force frankly aren't performing to the level they should be, and some of his closest mates at the Force are only contracted until 2009 anyway (and regardless of your confidence in Drew, Robyn, he has made no mention whatsoever of his plans post 09). I'm not saying that any of these factors were crucial in and of its own, but the combination of them make the West slightly less appealing. Plus his family are east. He is a hot commodity in Australian rugby now and he will get the best offer any club can offer....so i'd say his interests are outside the game itself.

"Remember lads, rugby is a team game; all 14 of you make sure you pass the ball to Giteau."
Jehna if Giteau was staying to see out his contract 2009. Why did the Force executive travel across country the to hold a meet face-to-face meeting with the ARU and James Erskine on a Sunday?
Wants the urgency? And will we find out this week before the match at Twickenham? We all know how much John O’Neil likes beating the English; will he push for a quick settlement between the parties?
Gits during the Padova test match looked elsewhere…
