Utterly gobsmacked that Clyne has found his way onto the World Rugby Council. He has done precisely nothing for the game. Or should I say, precisely nothing good for the game.
At least now though his 6* trips around the globe will be paid for by WR and not by grassroots Australian rugby.
Shaking my head

From the same reporter a few months ago, on the same official RA site
"Players featuring for the Western Force will officially be eligible for Wallabies duty"
https://www.rugby.com.au/news/2018/0...s-rule-changes
So all that has changed is WSR to GRR at request of WR!
Yeah, hopefully, it signals his last hurrah.
My understanding was this: Clyne would be chairman but was never bothered flying to meetings outside of Sydney (he wouldn't even fly to Perth if you gave him a lousy fifty million).
So he delegated all the overseas confrontations to his Mini-Me ... old mate Brett Robinson.
But Robinsonis still on there! The 3 from Aus are Clyne, Castle and Robinson. So who left to allow Clyne a seat? All the tier one nations have 3 seats on the Council

Ah right. For a while there (IIRC) we only had 2 reps ... even though we got 3 votes.
Maybe the third wheel is more air fares for the 'old skool' countries as a sop for allowing all these new chums onto the WR merry-go-round.
See here from three years back:
Member union voting rights on Council will operate as follows, with unions receiving one vote for each criteria that is met up to a maximum of three votes:
- One vote and one representative: to member unions who have qualified for two consecutive Rugby World Cups within last eight-year assessment period
- One vote and one representative: to unions who have qualified for two consecutive Rugby World Cups within last eight-year assessment period and who participate in the Six Nations or The Rugby Championship
- One vote: to unions who have qualified for two consecutive Rugby World Cups within last eight-year assessment period and: ... etc ...
OK, it is 9.05am in WA. Can anybody find a link to the GRR announcements?
