Only Melb? I was thinking of Brisbane, Canberra and Sydney as well.
Disappointed that we have lost our Friday games. Wouldn't be surprised if that hurts the numbers, as I know for some actively leaving the house on a Saturday is a damn sight harder than staying on after work on a Friday. Also doubt that Saturday night in Northbridge will be as inviting an option post-game, especially given the late starts. Mind you, it is almost ruled out anyway as a lot of places will refuse entry to anyone wearing team insignia. So even worse that, given they are Saturday games, none of them are afternoon games so the younger kids can come along. It will be interesting to see how it goes.
Hmmm. Don't like the "always on a Saturday" business. I can see some scheduling issues between sporting events in the future...

yeah the saturday games may be a bit of a struggle ... you know ... for those who don't care about watching the force flog the opposition!!!!! ...and I think young kids should toughen up. If they can't stay up all night on a Saturday what hope have they got?!
LOL and if you find a place that wont let you in because of team insignia ... It is probably a place not worth spending your money at

now that i dont understand... a lot of casual gear has sporting insignia on it so how do they differentiate? thats discriminatory surely?
My understanding is that they basically turn away clothing that displays any form of allegiance to any team or group as a potential fight starter. It will definitely be in force at the 10pm Saturday night most games will finish.
Northbridge sucks on a Saturday night anyway - my guess most will just go home.
How about leaving the bars open at Perth Oval/MES/ME Bank/nib?
