What about Cummo going back to Japan then? I think the ARU will have to re-think the eligibility rules. I've re-thunk my opinion on the matter after Nick's episode.
It's not always just the money either. Must be a little frustrating watching players who can't make the national squad getting to enjoy other places and cultures, as well as earning more.
"The main difference between playing League and Union is that now I get my hangovers on Monday instead of Sunday - Tom David
I am reading a book at the moment called The All Blacks winning culture.. and I just wish some of our players and arguably the majority..had as much "passion" as the All Blacks for our jersey..
Players are not waiting until the end of their careers anymore to head to the superannuation leagues up north. One day the ARU will cave and Rugby will be like Soccer where the best players head overseas for a bigger pay day.
More money needed if SR teams are to compete with overseas offers. Probably need $20M per year per team.
We have to come up with a way to make this happen or it will be as Jargan posted earlier.
On a lighter note, have you guys seen the latest Badger advert??
At what point are the punters in France going to say " Wait a minute, where are our French Players?" With half a dozen or so heading to France from Australia, plus the same from N.Z. and South Africa, add the guys already there... is the Top 14 going the way of the EPL?

Isn't there a quota on how many foreigners can take the field?
or is that Japan?

Shasta, I think that the Badger situation was a wee bit different. If I remember correctly didn't George Smith play in Japan then come back and play for both the ponys and Wallabies?
I have no truck with guys who want to extend their playing year if they are fit enough why not. It's not like they are playing 40 plus matches a year like the Europeans so I sure a few have some steam to burn off!
My main grip with the mass exodus is I don't believe that a number of the selected Wallabies won't have that absolutely bloody mongrel that we need out there. As I said earlier contracts that say "subject to a medical" are going to be at the forefront of the mind just before that big tackle.
Controversial I know but pick those guys who aren't leaving and they will fight tooth and nail!
May the FORCE be with you!
GIGS20 you can be very funny...and at this time of the morning??...just what I need..![]()
